Category[edit]

This article should not be in Category:Fictional hotels, but Hotel California should. “Hotel California” is the only song about a fictional hotel, as well as the name of the hotel itself. Unfortunately, this page is semi-protected. 165.91.13.163 (talk) 01:59, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: as you have not requested a specific change in the form "Please replace XXX with YYY" or "Please add ZZZ between PPP and QQQ", nor cited reliable sources to back up your request.

The result of the move request was: moved. There was only one convincing oppose, but that oppose included acknowledgement that the Eagles album is more notable. There was consensus in support of the nomination rationale; At close to 100 times the pageviews the Tyga album, the Eagles album overwhelms all other usages and can be considered the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Oppose. I'm not a fan of the slippery slope we seem to be on lately with WP:PDAB titles. The idea behind the PDAB exception is that if a title overwhelmingly, without the shadow of a doubt, refers to a certain topic, we PDAB it. That's not the case here - Hotel California (Tyga album) charted in multiple countries (including at #7 in the US), is certified Gold by the RIAA, and its lead single "Dope" charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Is as notable as the Eagles album? Of course not. But it's not so insignificant that we should intentionally introduce ambiguity into an article title. 162 etc. (talk) 18:01, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
