Adding alternative rock to the genres list in the infobox[edit]

Does anyone besides Binksternet have any objection or thoughts on adding alternative rock to the genres list in the infobox? With all due respect, Binksternet, this is one genre I tried to add, not a huge raft. I really don't see what the advantage of enforcing the arbitrary two to four preference so strictly is. We have a huge raft of instruments in the infobox and this is just adding one genre to just one over the "preferable" number of genres, and is still less than what is in the instruments section. The band she is the lead singer of, Evanescence, has been cited as alternative rock and she is also known for singing the hit single Broken, an alternative rock song a certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the Australian Recording Industry Association. The infobox is still clear and easy to read when its added. I don’t see how this negatively impacts the infobox, its literally just adding a small amount of information that better informs the reader, that's all. It does not detract in any way. First off, a singer's genre comes from writers describing the singer's genre, not from various songs or albums or bands that the singer was in. Does the literature say "Amy Lee the alt-rocker" or "alt-rock songstress Amy Lee"? If so, we can put that down.
Second, the bad practice of too many instruments does not mean more bad practice should be allowed.
Finally, a prose description of this stuff in the article body is always welcome. But the infobox should be very streamlined. Binksternet (talk) 16:32, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What about all the other genres listed, do they meet this criteria? Why are you singling my edit out? Also the accusation of the instrument section being "bad practice" does not have any consensus or agreement, nor have you been trying to change this, yet my edit of adding one genre gets reverted, twice. You are still yet to tell me how adding this one genre negatively impacts the infobox in this specific case. Helper201 (talk) 17:01, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And, actually, yes, per Template:Infobox musical artist#genre "the genre or genres of music performed by the act" means we can use the music professionally played by the person in songs and in the band they are the lead singer of. Helper201 (talk) 17:06, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Bitter Truth[edit]

Where's information about this album? TBH, I'm just curious on her political stance and I would like to know more about Use My Voice. It's very cryptic in the music video and the lyrics, but I'm sure it's meant to be. And yes I've read articles about it, so what would be here would probably be the same, but I thought there might be other sources I haven't seen. I'm interested because I'm pretty sure both the left and the right think it's about them specifically. I'm pretty sure my sister does. My personal reason for this isn't all that important, but the album should at least be on the page. 2603:9001:8500:2AE4:33BA:D08B:BD53:6F50 (talk) 05:59, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The album and song have their own respective Wikipedia pages, here, The Bitter Truth, and here, Use My Voice. I'm personally not particularly familiar with Amy Lee's or Evanescence's more recent music at the time of writing, but regarding their politics I found the following articles on a cursory search:
Perhaps these articles or ones from other reliable sources can be used to expand this page about her politics or those expressed in the album and/or song if any. However I'm not sure how much this is really a discussion for here, as we should not be using this page or any other on Wikipedia as a forum, per, WP:NOTFORUM and WP:FORUM and I'm not sure how much this discussion strays into that territory. All the best. Helper201 (talk) 06:56, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't this article begin with a more general statement?[edit]

Shouldn't the article begin with a more general identifying statement (such as, that Amy Lee is an American musician or American singer, etc.) before launching into where she was born and went to school? I know who he is but not everyone remembers Evanescence or knows who Amy Lee is. Any objection? 2601:C6:8480:1F10:4D92:F700:E5C6:1601 (talk) 19:56, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article does begin with such statements. The first two sentences of the article are: "Amy Lynn Hartzler (née Lee; born December 13, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She is the co-founder, lead vocalist, and lead songwriter of the rock band Evanescence." —C.Fred (talk) 02:43, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

Is there a reliable source that states that Lee changed her surname to Hartzler to support this article's lead intro calling her "Amy Hartzler"? From my research, reliable sources still refer to her as Amy Lee, and Lee's official social media accounts use Amy Lee. Lapadite (talk) 08:55, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking through old versions of the page. Back in 2015, the article stated "She posted on EvThreads that she is 'now officially Mrs. Amy Hartzler,'" but that's as detailed as the citation was. —C.Fred (talk) 13:42, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Found the archived post: [1] So, it's a primary-source statement of her name. However, the question may remain whether the article needs tweaked to say "known professionally by her maiden name, Amy Lee", or the like—or whether to make the Hartzler last name a footnote to her name and show her last name as Lee. —C.Fred (talk) 13:50, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Fan sites, pages, blogs aren't reliable sources whether or not an artist posted on one. Even if fan sites could be reliable sources, such a comment is not stating that there is a legal surname change, only using a common expression that indicates the person got married. If a fan page is why the name in the lead intro was changed then this change is not supported by a reliable source, failing WP policies WP:V and WP:OR, which is especially stringent for WP:BLPs. Lacking a reliable source stating that Lee changed her surname, the lead intro needs to state her birth name, which is the name she continues to go by on her official social media and is widely known for and referred to by reliable sources.
