Doctors[edit]

Hi DBach, I should have noticed before that you're a doctor! Would you join the local staff at the WikiProject "Clinical medicine"? There's also a WikiProject "Psychopathology", but I'd rather lure you away from there, because you seem to know a lot about somatic medicine as well. Then there's WikiProject "Drugs", which is presently being populated and which attempts to knock the pharmacotherapeutical side of this project into shape. JFW | T@lk 15:29, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

What has to be done? Well, some neurology pages have been written up nicely, but others contain lay vocabulary and lack recent research. Ophthalmology pages (probably not your immediate interest) are largely the product of spammers who wanted to advertise their LASIK clinics, and could really do with work.

Otherwise, irritable bowel syndrome is still a bit messy, and could benefit from an approach that we've followed on many other medicine articles (see e.g. angiodysplasia). JFW | T@lk 18:50, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

IBS Discussion[edit]

I agree that you don't want to scare people by suggesting that they might have something worse than what they really have. In my case, I would be overjoyed if I learned that my problem was celiac disease, because at least then I could do something about the problem. Since my physician can't give me any answers I am left to wondering and trying to figure it out for myself. Sorry I took out my frustration on you. H2O 21:11, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Loperamide[edit]

On a different note -- here is a puzzle for you -- about 10 years ago I was in Honduras for a couple of weeks and got diarrhea. I took a standard dose of loperamide and afterward experienced mild disorientation and hallucinations. For this reason I have never taken this drug again. Now I am reading that this drug cannot pass the blood-brain barrier. Do you have an explanation for this? Just curious. H2O 21:54, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Old revisions deleted[edit]

As a developer I've removed the versions of your user page wich contained your name. If you want the remaining revisions deleted any admin can take care of it (unless you're unlucky and the early one happens to be caught up in another compression run, in which case, please ask me on my talk page and I'll take care of removing it). Thanks for uploading Image:Red Herring Surf.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Copywrite and fair use[edit]

Fair use says "Fair use makes copyrighted work available to the public as raw material without the need for permission or clearance, so long as such free usage serves the purpose of copyright law, which the U.S. Constitution defines as the promotion of "the Progress of Science and useful Arts" (I.1.8), better than the legal enforcement of claims of infringement."

The New York Times itself quotes others.

"Copyright protects the particular way an author has expressed himself; it does not extend to any ideas, systems, or factual information conveyed in the work." [3] therefore a quote that essentially lists facts isn't even covered by copywrite in the first place.

Wikipedia primary servers are in the US.

While it would be nice to have no legal complications, the rich in this world are seeking to own everything including math equations (which is what software patents are).

Article on Beit Shemesh[edit]

Hi Dbach. I noticed you changed Beit Jimmel to Beit Jala in this article. Are you sure that the original author was not referring to the wine made by the residents of the Beit Jamal convent?

Might be - however the sentence read: Cremisan cellars in Beit Jimmel. Cremisan is in Beit Jala. I know that Cremisan processes Beit Shemesh grapes, I have no idea about Beit Jamal - might be. Dbach 08:17, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
