permission to use DD's biography[edit]

We will have permission to use Diane Duane's official biography from owlsprings.com as the basis of this article. This is an excerpt from an e-mail I received this morning:

doubled content?[edit]

I removed the 2005 date from The Door into Starlight because Meisha Merlin, the intended publisher, states on their website that "We have released Diane Duane from her contract for this series with us, so that she may complete other projects." I assume this means it has reverted to the "due out someday" status that it has maintained for the past decade. --Ambyr 23:12, 31 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Star Trek novels[edit]

Duane's Star Trek novel "Doctor's Orders" is listed here as TOS #50. This is confirmed by an article at Memory Alpha: [1] However, I own a copy of this novel myself, and my copy is definately numbered as TOS #36. Interesting: #36 is supposed to be "How Much for Just the Planet?". I just Googled around, and every reference I found had it at #50. It'd be interesting to include if you could scan and post the cover with the wrong number...--SarekOfVulcan 13:13, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this link might serve to explain the inconsistency [2] My copy was published by Titan Books in the UK, which apparently do not share the same numbering system as Pocket Books' versions of the same novels. I think another consideration might be: do all of the wiki articles on Trek novels exclusively use the Pocket Books method of numbering, and should this be ammended to include both sets of numbers? John1701 19:39, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Book Formats[edit]

Perusing the bibliography, it seems that none of the book formats are standardized. While I agree with some things (like a bullet for one entry and numbers for a series) other things need some cleanup — years being both before and after titles, missing ISBNs and publishers (do we need publishers? What about multiple publications?), and the like.

I would edit to to be all nice looking with the Young Wizards series as the template, but I wanted to inquire here before I made any major changes whether there was a standard on how book entries should be. For example, Spider Robinson's entry seem to prefer the year after the title, and most of them lack publishers as well.

I'd just as soon use {{Cite book}} as the standard. The problem with standardizing them is that some of them have changed publishers: do we use the original publisher, or the most recent one?

Publisher correction[edit]

I'm avoiding editing this due to some WP:COI (I'm editing together a new edition of this material), but in the section on comics, the publisher of The Dreamery is currently listed as Epic Comics; the series actually came from Eclipse Comics. --Nat Gertler (talk) 19:57, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Name pronunciation[edit]

Having never met the lady or actually heard her name said, I was hoping that Wikipedia would have had the answer to my biggest question: Is her last name pronounced as a single syllable (like the common masculine first name) or is it pronounced with two syllables (and, if so, how? E & K, Khalijidha's pronunciation is how I assumed it was pronounced ("doo-wayne" / "doo-ayne") for the past 30 years, as well (related to its origin Dubhán which is pronounced similar to "doo-van"). I came here today because I heard Robert Burnett pronounce her name differently, so wanted to see if WP had any info on pronunciation. Clicked on the link but could not find any info about Duane doing the map for Ringworld: Engineers.

Prince Ivan[edit]

In the comics heading, Duane's Prince Ivan material is mentioned. However, when the material was collected in The Misadventures of Prince Ivan (About Comics, 2011), there was a new story that had been drawn for the book, the 28-page tale "Prince Ivan and the Bachelor Parties of Doom", and that should probably be mentioned as well. As the publisher of that book and the editor of that story, I have a strong conflict of interest and will not be adding it myself. --Nat Gertler (talk) 18:11, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
