By training, I am a theoretical physicist and mathematician. My doctoral thesis pursued research into Baroclinic Instability about which I will write an article shortly. This research work combined practical and theoretical fluid mechanics, as well as analytical and numerical analysis of coupled non-linear differential equations. As a physicist, I have had to develop practical skills in computing over a long period, and since 1999 I have followed a career in software development, working on the JET nuclear fusion experiment.

At JET, we are interested in making use of collaborative software tools such as Wikis, and I am currently configuring a mediawiki installation to support our Ph.D student community.

I am impressed by the Wikipedia project and hope to contribute in a number of areas.
