Taxonomy: For all marine species, Project Gastropods uses the taxonomy in the online database WoRMS. Picture removed[edit]

Yes, the picture was removed, we'll have to find one not protected by copyright. With the lifespan indicated by the book, this if for freshwater aquatic snails, not land snails. Marine gastropods live considerably shorter than land ones. When you say 'numerous other errors' can you give some examples? By the way, once again, this is a refferal to LAND snails, I'll fix the title to indicate that. And I think you'll find that the words feelers and tentacles are synonymous in this case. If anything, feelers might be preffered as the term tentacles might make someone think of octopus/squid/nautilus/etc appendages. That's an interesting suggestion you have raised on parasites, I'm more of an expert on behaviour than this sort of thing. Snail mating[edit]

Snails mate in a few ways, such as mating asexually or with another snail.

Snails have the ability to impregnate themselves without the need of another Snail. Although if a snail does impregnate themselves, there is a high chance of the baby snails turn out with defects and other problems. This happens because when a snail mates with itself, it's technically considered incest.

When a snail mates with another, they will start off with "foreplay," Durring this time, the Snails will rub each other's face and genitalia. Snails will then get close to the others genitalia and shoot a "love dart" at them. The love dart has semen in it. Once the love dart punctures the Snails skin, it releases the semen and the snail will become pregnant.

Snail Anatomy?[edit]

This page lacks a proper discussion of snail anatomy. There are brief descriptions in the Overview section, but many aspects of snail anatomy and physiology are missing. No mention of eyestalks, foot, mantle, and many other things. 021120x (talk) 20:42, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
