The person is question is almost universally referred to as just "Devan Nair", so that's the correct name for the article. The Chengara Veetil bit, which I'd never even heard of before Wikipedia, is trivia and can stay in the content. Is this the same Devan Nair that got arrested?[edit]

That's my question: I read somewhere that he got arrested during the late 1950's, for among other things, along with Lim Chin Siong for being involved in stirring unrest. Is this the same one? Yes, the union leader C V Devan Nair. Thats the turning point of his political carrer as well, when he realised the leader of PAP is one that is reliable and persistent, and decided he will align to him and although with much hesistation over the reducing of his militant stand, he eventually become NTUC founder. He was a close ally of Lim Chin Siong and Fong Swee Suan during the pre-merge years though, and turning against them when Lim and Fong form the Barisan Sosaslis. That's my question: As per my knowlege, am from Champad, still his relatives are in my native place.

I came to know his ancetors belongs to cherukunnu in kannur district.

RE: Malaysian fondling incident[edit]

This has been removed, it is fact, and while not very flattering adds to the page and insight into the circumstances surrounding his resignation. I believe that it should be included no matter what other "on high" reasons you might give for not including it.

For sure. I'm not arguing there, please note tho that the phrasing of my addition did not imply any actual denigration of Devan Nair, nor was it insinuating at all. As noted this was a well publicised story (if you dig up any Malaysian news paper at the time you fill find it. I am unsure how well it was covered in Singapore) it is definitely certain that most Singaporeans know of or had some contact with the story. I am not Singaporean nor Malaysian and tend to believe I have an objective view on this matter. I certainly have no personal interest in it aside from improving the quality of content on Wikipedia. Please let me remind you that this is NOT your baby project to care after it is a social collaborative medium. Regardless of your personal views. (Based on the revision history of this page it's fairly certain that both of you have vested interests in this and other Singapore related topics for some reason). Again the story adds much detail to the type of mudslinging that may or may not have been apparent in his later career.

Actually looking at it now... In light of OBJECTIVE independent sources, this article is quite biased in favour of Mr Nair. For instance where is the source materials for the phrasing of his "hotly" denying allegations. If you are going to not allow my fairly well worded addition then you should clean up the rest of the article in the process.

Appreciate if you could clarify about the timing of the "Malaysian news paper" report you mentioned above. Are these reports made (1) right after the drunk incident, while Nair was still the President, or (2) after he has resigned, or (3) after he was attacked by the govt? Do you remember? Again, could you clarify the sequence of events. For example the statement "Nair resigned after a number of public humiliations" is not exactly true in Singapore, because he was forced to resign by Lee Kuan Yew before the public knew about the drunk incident which was much later.
