Would just like to comment that the Laju incident which as credited as an occasion where Singapore's Commando SOF completed their successfull mission, is not exactly so.

The incident which occured between Jan and Feb 1974 triggered off the realisation that Singapore needed to put in place a counter terrorist force for emergencies like the Laju incident. As such the force couldn't have exist during the incident.

It was the members of the police force who served as voluntary hostages and police negotiators, (not the military's Special Operations Force), which helped defuse the crisis.

As well as being a copyright violation, this appears to be a dead end and an orphan page! Delete or significant rewrite required?? Jschwa1 10:53, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Delta Force, Rangers?[edit]

Wait, do they train with these personnel, or receive similar training (ie. this is a boast that should be corrected), or were they actually part of these groups? I just find that surprising, because the Delta Force is probably unlikely to be doing any joint military exercises I think, since the US would be much more covert about it than Singapore might. What's commonly known (from pioneer magazines etc) is that some attended the Ranger and Navy Seal courses in the US. I don't know about Delta Force. (does it exist officially?) The SOF shouldn't be considered as part of these foreign groups. I'm not sure about joint exercises, but the thing about special forces is that they are constantly training and learning new skills, and therefore interaction with special forces in other countries is very important for them to maintain or upgrade their level of skills and expertise. For US, these interaction are PRs as well as sales pitch opportunity to sell new gadgets. Vsion 21:11, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Courses? Courses? This reminds me of people who attend a newfangled course that officially certifies them that they can use Excel, then boast they are computer literate. I nearly thought they went through the whole Ranger, SOCOM, etc. stint. But that's the entire school term of 9 weeks. "Course" sounds like they visited a camp for 3 days then flew back. I mean, were the Singaporean participants airdropped into the middle of a vast forest with nothing except clothes and water, then given instructions to reach some distant location hours away? The water they brought wouldn't be enough if the mission last more than a day, they'll need to find other water source. They need to bring along their weapon though, it's not like martial art movie. Ok...I actually doubt they are SOF members too....I was kinda wondering if they are CDO or SOF, coz both share the same tentage. Anyway, if they are out in a public exhibition like this, I am wondering why we would have to cover their faces up! :D (on hindsight, I got another photo which may be better since we cant really see their faces. No leh....the entire tentage was choke full of military personal and non were obviously trying to cover their faces except for a few with sunglasses...obviously more to look cool than anything else? :D And imagine the number of people (and photographers) who passed by that tent...easily thousands. Highly doubtful that these are CDO or SOF personnel. The pale bespectacled guy looks like a clerk and the guy with sunglasses looks like he has some extra weight on him. Anyway, not that SOF guys don't man tentages (I've seen some at inhouse events pull duty in them -- and they look like the real deal, i.e., extremely fit looking) but these two look more like support personnel than anything else.
