  • Many other fast-food places have budget menus nowadays. We should probably have a more general article instead of one that just focuses on McDonald's, but until that's written, keep. Real phenomenom. - RedWordSmith 20:28, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. With EXTREME predjudice. "real phenomenon"? I must have missed that article in the Economist. Just another cheap product offered for sale. See also Wal-Mart. Non-notable. Terrapin 21:01, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete as advertising, orphan, trivial, information that will too rapidly go stale... It is not a cultural phenomenon even on the order of the Happy Meal. Might be a footnote in the current McDonalds article but not by itself. Rossami 22:16, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Ugh, I want recompense for the matter of seconds I just wasted opening that page. Delete, please! -- Graham ☺ | Talk 22:22, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: I can imagine all our British Wikipedians going down to their local McDonalds with a dollar. Provincial, ephemeral, and not notable. Geogre 00:18, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
    • Do you want to send me a dollar so I can try that one out? In the UK it's called the 99p menu - hardly as much of a snappy ring, eh? -- Graham ☺ | Talk 00:34, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Definite keep. This is good, verifiable, notable information. Guanaco 00:36, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, advertising; not a significant phenomenon. Unless improved out of all recognition before expiration of VfD. I'm not aware of any trend toward "dollar menus." Guanaco, how is this any more notable than, oh, say, Burger King's "Cravers?" Or a Wendy's "Super Value Meal?" Or the McDonalds' promotion about a decade ago for meals where you could "get something you haven't seen in a long time: change back from your dollar?" Or any of thousands of loss-leader sales promotions? [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 00:39, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC) P. S. Redirect to Garbage plate! • Delete unless expanded. -Sean Curtin 00:44, Sep 23, 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect to McDonald's and merge. - Evil saltine 00:46, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep - I do have a bias since I wrote the original stub, but I do think that the Dollar Menu at McDonald's is notable enough to warrant inclusion in Wikipedia. Consider the other McDonald's-related articles that we have here: Mighty Kids Meal, McFlurry, Big Mac, Mayor McCheese, and I'm lovin' it, to name some of them. The Dollar Menu is just as or more notable than many of these. It is true that this is a stub and has room for expansion. For example, some information that could be added include when the Dollar Menu was started and why it was started (i.e. McDonald's financial troubles). If it is decided that this article is not going to be kept, then it should at least be redirected to McDonald's like McChicken was. --Chessphoon 01:27, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
    • Delete. That other stuff probably should go too. Not at all notable, generic phrase. --Improv 04:12, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
      • Personally, I think it would interesting and perhaps encyclopedic to have some kind of comprehensive summary, in tabular or timeline form, showing the lifespan of various McDonalds menu items. McLean Deluxe... Arch Deluxe... I remember back in the 1970s they had roast beef (steamed, greyish roast beef)... Because of the research needed to do this to encyclopedic standards, I'm not going to be the one to do it. Similarly, a timeline of advertising campaigns and slogans would be interesting if well-researched and comprehensive. (Is "You deserve a break today?" still being used?) ("Mac Tonight" with the Ray-Charles-like crescent moon urging people to consider McDonalds for dinner as well as lunch had a short life...) However, isolated individual stubby articles on these topics are not worthwhile. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 13:45, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. There's no point in referring to encyclopedic stuff that could be added which can just as well be added in the main McDonald's article. Jallan 20:23, 25 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. The dollar menu is a genie that McDonalds let out of the bottle which has substantially changed their economics and the economics of their industry in general. I added some commentary on the price war / financial troubles it got them into--plus a link to an article where the MCDonalds CEO is professing his continued support for the menu. User:A_brit_abroad
  • Keep and merge into McDonalds. Eventually keep a redirect to the appropriate section into the McDonalds article. Alfio 16:41, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)
