Untitled[edit]

Metropolitan State College of Denver just completed an incredible Web site on the history of Camp Hale. You should consider linking to it. The URL is http://www.mscd.edu/~history/camphale

The Web site has interview videos, photos of the base, history of the Women's Army Corp, etc.

Thanks for the tip! I'm adding it. By the way, if you happened to know about this site because you're affiliated with MCSD, the article on Metropolitan State College of Denver could use your input. You don't need to leave a note on the Talk page. Just edit the article! JamesMLane 11:14, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Intersection of Tibetan History and Camp Hale[edit]

The CIA's training of Chushi Gangdruk at Camp Hale has been politicized by the Chinese government and Chinese neo-cons, distorted to create a picture whereby the CIA created and controlled the Tibetan unrest.

According to surviving members of Chushi Gangdruk, this is untrue. Chushi Gangdruk, based in eastern Tibet (where China implemented harsh tactics), once they received no support from the Tibetan central government in Lhasa, did an end run around Lhasa and contacted Eisenhower's administration and the Indian government directly. While the CIA trained the guerrillas, the Eisenhower administration sought an official okay from the Tibetan government. The guerrillas were forced to purchase their own weapons in the meantime. The Tibetan government never responded. The Eisenhower administration gave up and finally gave the go-ahead without support from the Tibetan government. Chushi Gangdruk was largely wiped out in the month they covered the Tibetan civilian retreat into India. Large numbers of members were killed when the Kennedy administration suspended operations in Tibet right before an important supply run.

I'll be making some small edits to dovetail Tibetan history, the history of Chushi Gangdruk, and the history of Camp Hale. Longchenpa (talk) 02:56, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
