Possibly. My question would be: if it weren't named the same thing (but instead were called, say, "New York Harbor National Monument") would it still be merged? The historic structures seem like could have an article about them eventually that would be more expansive than the history of the island. But I don't know the details per se regarding the facility. -- Decumanus 21:14, 2005 Apr 2 (UTC)

The historic forts are integral to the history of the island, and are relevant to more than their current administration by the National Park Service. So, if it was called "Fort Jay and Castle Williams National Monument", I would still suggest a merge.--Pharos 21:21, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Um, is 172 acres really equal to 696,000 sqmi?
