Hippophilia[edit]

Talks about sex with horses, but the only reference I can find to that use via google is a woody allan quote. So the information is at least unverifiable. When that part is removed there is only a dictionary definition left.

  • Eww. Delete as unverifiable. This is one sick little puppy. - Lucky 6.9 23:23, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Icky... but real. See [1] --Starx 02:28, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
    • To me that just reads like someone who likes horses, as in platonic love. Your average horse-crazy girl. My reading of it does not imply sex, and it would be misleading to redirect to Zoophilia or Bestiality. Thue 13:15, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect to Zoophilia? -- Cyrius| 02:47, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect to Zoophilia or Bestiality JFW | T@lk 12:01, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • "Bestiality" redirects to Zoophilia, so this should redirect to Zoophilia as well. WhisperToMe 13:12, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. I'm skeptical that this can be verified. It reads more like a neologism coined by porn vendors (or possibly by Woody Allen as noted) to me. My experience of horses is restricted to riding them (in a conventional sense) and in watching some veterinary procedures, but even so I get the impression I know more about them than some. If anyone, however familiar with the particular horse, were to attempt what is described here, IMO their injuries would prevent them trying a second time. I'd guess any farm boys reading our article are splitting their sides laughing at the naivity of city folk. Unless we can get some information to back up the redirect, it's better deleted. Or maybe redefine as the tendency to bleed after being trampled by a hippopotamus? Or (;-> maybe not... Andrewa 20:16, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Hmm, I see several Google hits which refer to horse riding (in the conventional sense) -- e.g. [www.stableminds.com/justforfun/hippophilia.html]. BTW "Philip" is from the Greek for "lover of horses" if I'm not mistaken. I agree this use of "hippophilia" looks like a neologism -- delete unless substantiated. Wile E. Heresiarch 00:29, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. I agree with Andrewa. Andris 01:21, Jun 5, 2004 (UTC)
  • Not sure if the term is correct, but the concept is real. A worker at a local stable was charged and convicted of bestiality after investigation showed several mares had been sexually molested. Both semen and lubricant were present, so there's not much dot-connecting to do. Denni 02:59, 2004 Jun 6 (UTC)
    • After this comment, I looked up pet-abuse.com and they list 7 incidents of bestiality involving horses. I still vote delete, though, since the term appears to be made up. Andris 05:32, Jun 6, 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect to zoophilia and try to forget. →Raul654 03:05, Jun 6, 2004 (UTC)
    • Nobody has found any use in the meaning zoophilia on the net. Looks like a neologism. Why keep or redirect? Thue 09:46, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Shudderingly vote to keep. Possibly link to centaur ? Rhymeless 03:37, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC)
    • Why keep? Nobody has been able to find any use of the word in the meaning zoophilia on the net. So this looks like a neologism, which should be deleted. Why link to centaur? Thue 09:46, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC)
      • Because, presumably, a centuar could be the product of such a coupling. Rhymeless 06:41, 10 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect to Animal lover, a well-used term with this specific meaning. Denni 02:41, 2004 Jun 9 (UTC)

This was the state of the debate when removed from VfD as resolved at 19:42 on 10 Jun 2004. Andrewa 04:49, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Some afterthoughts on the VfD debate[edit]

We regularly need to deal with toilet humour articles created by anons, such as the original version of this page. Note that it said These activites include vaginal or anal sex, which doesn't feature in any of the seven stories of sex-related abuse of horses currently described at pet-abuse.com as I write this. The semen present in one of these stories was a result of self-manipulation by the perpetrator, not penetration of the victim.

Despite not voting for it, I now think the redirect now in place is the correct decision. It will minimise the probability of needing to go through all this again. Andrewa 23:53, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)
