No need for merge[edit]

It seems quite silly to merge the articles motherboard and PC motherboard. Simply because while typical computer enthusiasts (myself included) refer to a PC motherboard as simply a motherboard, this is in the context of talking abot computers though. Wikipedia is generic and covers virtually every topic on earth. Thus meaning that PC motherboards must remain regarded as PC motherboards. Intrusion detection[edit]

Some motherboard have connector that can connect cable to detect intrusion detection to the computer case? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Frap (talkcontribs) 08:03, 29 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Confusing[edit]

The introduction of this article would be confusing to those unfamiliar with the topic. The subject of the article should be mentioned in the first sentence, appear in bold, and should be explained. The introduction currently talks about motherboards, but it does not say what a "PC motherboard" is. Someone unfamiliar with the subject might think that the "PC" stands for "printed circuit" based upon the first sentence. -- Kjkolb 14:53, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

There has been a tag on this article to merge with Motherboard since March 2007, but no corresponding tag on the motherboard article. I placed one there and will wait for opinions -- the merge seems like a good idea to me, if a lot of work to get the two articles integrated. -- phoebe/(talk) 05:20, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is clear that it is a bad idea as we need an article about motherboards generically and a separate one about PC motherboards. It was already discussed and no merge took place so I am taking the tag off both articles. However, I do agree that the Motherboard article overlaps badly and needs to be made much more generic.--DanielRigal 08:18, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
More discussion at motherboard. -- phoebe/(talk) 23:27, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why are tehre two articles? There's nothing generic about the motherboad articles, it only talks about PC clones. These should be merged. --Wtshymanski (talk) 16:53, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Name 3 differences between PC motherboards and Motherboards. If you can't, the two should be merged. 16:58, 13 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Danielspencer91 (talkcontribs)
