complete rewrite.[edit]

I will be doing a complete rewrite of this article because of it being completely wrong. Paradigm City is not New York City. It is, in fact, a stage. I will rewrite this article in the upcoming days. dposse 16:53, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, that is never made clear in the anime, and would just be speculation. I would say keep the current information, but make it clear that it might be a stage, or something to that extent. -- Ned Scott 20:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that Paradigm is shown to be a stage is irrelevant, as it is constructed from people's memories, thus there probably was a real Paradigm City, built on the ruins of NYC after The Event.

Also, evidence for Paradigm formerly being NYC is not only what's in this article, but the fact that the names of the show's scores have street names, and most of those names (Houston St, 50th St, Spring St, W 14th, Bleecker St, and Grand Central to be exact) are locations of train stations in NYC. I don't know whether that's worth putting into the article. I'll leave that up to someone else. --Iritscen 15:46, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The main article was getting kinda long (well over 30 KB), mostly because of the setting section. I've split it here and placed a more concise setting description in its place. "The Event"[edit]

I don't actually recall this name being used in the series itself; characters occasionally refer to things like "the events of 40 years ago," but often enough it's just any vague term such as "something happened." Perhaps it was only in the original Japanese, and not the dub?
