Conflict[edit]

Problem - although there are some sources that back up the birthdate we use - Britannica uses born Dec. 3, 1830 Lotsofissues 15:53, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The Oxford DNB confirms Dec 3. as the birthdate. Lotsofissues 21:26, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bizarro![edit]

Leighton cannot have met Picasso in Paris when he used to live there from 1855 to 1859 : Picasso was born in 1881. I guess it might have been Pissaro instead but this should be verified. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Balearn (talkcontribs) 10:06, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He met Picasso...?![edit]

That would be an interesting feat. According to Wikipedia, Pablo Picasso was born in 1881. And according to the same source, Leighton died in 1896. I'm not saying that it would have been impossible for the two to have met -- but it certainly couldn't have happened in 1860, as this article suggests.

If I dig up the right sources, then I'll edit the article myself. I'm just too lazy to do that right now, so I'll leave it to someone else, unless I beat him to it.

Edmund Blair Leighton[edit]

Is this Leighton any relation to Edmund Blair Leighton? -Phoenixrod (talk) 21:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to ask the same question. Drutt (talk) 22:41, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So was I. Paul Magnussen (talk) 02:16, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recently the file File:Frederic Leighton, Baron Leighton by George Frederic Watts.jpg (right) was uploaded and it appears to be relevant to this article and not currently used by it. If you're interested and think it would be a useful addition, please feel free to include it. Dcoetzee 03:18, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Erm ...[edit]

Are there any indications about his sexual orientation -- i. e., was he gay?

Factual information about this will be much appreciated, thanks. Maikel (talk) 16:04, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Just visited his house and guide suggests he may have been homosexual but no one is absolutely sure. He was fairly lose to at least one woman, but uncertain if involvement was romantic. Will look up some sources. 109.144.221.141 (talk) 14:50, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Better portrait?[edit]

I found this portrait entirely by accident, but it is very good: The Album Supplement, Apr. 29, 1895, page 1. The photo credit says Russell & Sons. The Album appears to be a journal worth mining for portraiture. Douglas W. Jones (talk) 14:40, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Collection of Iznik Pottery[edit]

Reference is made in the biography section to his collection of Iznik tiles. I think it would helpful to include a link to the Wikipedia article on Iznik pottery. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iznik_pottery Crouchend (talk) 00:32, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
