Please stop removing Meanest City entry[edit]

Tone it down if you like, but this is an important fact about this city and this county. People are looking to this site for honest and complete information, not some crap from a chamber of commerce brochure. If you have evidence that contradicts this please put it in the article. The "Meanest US Cities" list you are referring to was comprised by the National Coalition for the Homeless. Thus it is quite biased and bears no merit. Having local laws that may inhibit the homeless does not infer that the city is "mean".

Actually: 1- You can't get too meaner than being mean to homeless people? 2- It is an actually mean city. The government and it's local laws is quite cruel against the middle and lower castes and the police are being investigated left and right for abusing people. The business down her have no problem taking your money for a hotel room and then just throwing you out in the street because they don't want black people in their hotel (no, I'm not black or hispanic, but I did work at a hotel), the laws are written so that this completly legal, and God forbid you act upset about it when the police come.

So ya, I'd say the "Meanest city fits, and yes, it's quite relevant and most definetly should be included in this article. Removing it is vandalism.

Origins of the Name Sarasota[edit]

Well, first off this article contradicts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarasota,_Florida where it says Sarasota originates from Zara Zote. Also, as I was taught in school this link states that the the "sota" section of the name came from the last name of the Spanish conquistador DeSoto. He had a daughter named Sara, and if you combine the two names you get Sarasota. That would be from this link: http://www.sarasotagov.com/InsideCityGovernment/Content/Commissioners/CelebrateSarasota/CelebrateSarasotaHistory.html (The Sarasota government site, for the city not the county.) I am proposing a change in the article to mention at least one of these facts. Also, Zara is probably Spanish for Sara, meaning Zote might mean something close to "soto" or "sota." History[edit]

The link sends you to the History of Sarasota and I saw another editor say that that page is strictly for the history of Sarasota City rather than Sarasota County. Is this true? Do we really need both a history of Sarasota City and Sarasota County or can they be combined? I will pose the question in the history page as well but figured I'd start here.
