Unundadages[edit]

Are we sure this name was in the Mohawk language and not the Oneida language? The Thomas source just says a site the Iroquois called "Unundadages," which doesn't specify which Iroquois tribe or language. The Hauptman source doesn't say which language either but mentions it in a chapter solely about the Oneidas. The maps on Iroquois seem to put Utica in Oneida territory, although the city isn't placed on the maps and I don't think firm boundaries existed back then. I agree, the Mohawk words I've seen for Utica are either iotékha (it’s on fire), or niionontatá:se (it twisted the mountain). It is technically Oneida territory, from the maps of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy that are available. And if Unundadages is the Oneida word then don't call it Mohawk. Nevermiand. The Mohawk names would be interesting to add, what's your source for them? Apocheir (talk) 00:28, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of East Utica into Utica, New York[edit]

Not yet; uncontested counterproposal with stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 16:49, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A decent page could probably be written about East Utica, but this isn't it. It totally fails to define what part of Utica is "East Utica" and confuses the neighborhood with the Italian-American community in Utica at large. Most of the references are non-specific or lack page numbers, making it hard to verify or determine intent. Recommend merging. Apocheir (talk) 17:22, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Keep: Agree that the East Utica page needs work. I'd suggest giving it a year or so. If no progress is made to address the deficiencies you correctly identify, then a renomination for merging is warranted and deserving of full support. Keystone18 (talk) 20:08, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
