Sorry: I didn't mean to mark my first edit--which removed a vanity page and replaced it with a stub--as a minor edit, but I don't know how (or if) I can undo that marking. Remes 23:10, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

"Chevy Chase" shopping district[edit]

I don't know what marketing outsider took hold of this section, but it is neither factual nor balanced regarding the Friendship Heights shopping district just west of Chevy Chase, DC. I have tried to reflect accuracy and balance and eliminated the "plugs" for the promotor's favorite upscale chains, which totally ignore the fact that there are also moderate and even bargain shopping options in this area.

I am 16-year resident of Chevy Chase, DC and will tell you that no one who really lives here considers that area part of Chevy Chase proper.205.188.116.131 13:03, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Neighborhood description[edit]

I also added some history and real flavor of CCDC.

Took out the "exclusive" adjective which sounded to me like code for "white" in realtor-speak. Yes, CC is predominately white but as a resident here I'll say that diversity is welcomed by most people in our community.

Community Center[edit]

I recently visited the CC community center / library and was very impressed with its vibrancy and activity. I took this picture of the exterior and uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons:

I think it would be a good addition to the page.

History of Lafayette Elementary School and the nearby Lafayette-Pointer Park[edit]

In June 2021, Lafayette-Pointer Park put signs throughout the park discussing the school and park's history. In the 1920's, the community used eminent domain to take land from the local black farmers who had owned the land since the 1840's. Perhaps we could include a mention of this in the History section? James G Thorn (talk) 16:05, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. Go for it. PRRfan (talk) 16:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
