Link to master's thesis on Fishing weir[edit]

Hello Allen- I made some copyedits to your restoration of the link to your master's thesis in the above-linked article. I don't know why, when I reverted your initial insertion of the link, I had the impression that your editing was mostly self-promotional; I may have acted hastily due to the lack of an edit summary. In any case, from my reading of Wikipedia's guideline on conflict of interest, specifically WP:SELFCITE, it seems your linking to your own work is appropriate. But, as mentioned in the guidance, I think it would be a good idea for you to run it by other editors in a new section on the article's talkpage. Also, if you don't mind another suggestion not related to WP, it might be helpful to those visiting your thesis site if you added a date to your note there. Hi again Allen- I forgot to mention that I removed your name from the link description. I don't know any specific guidance on this, but my sense is that we would only mention an author's name in this context if the author were widely known. This would be something to ask the community. Of course you would include the name in any in-line citation in the text. (WP:CITE). Eric talk 12:49, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
