Relationship with Naruto Uzumaki?[edit]

It says in the article for kamaboko that it is also called "naruto" because it often is patterned with swirls that are reminiscent of the Naruto whirlpools. Having heard from someone else a few weeks ago that Naruto Uzumaki (from the manga/anime series Naruto) is named after a kind of fish, I'm now wondering if he was actually named after kamaboko, and by extension this city. Does anyone know? P.S. I will also post this question in the kamaboko discussion, since I've just realized that it's probably more relevant to that article than to this one. I created a stub of narutomaki (naruto), a type of kamaboko, often served on ramen. There are different forms of kamaboko. kanikama is another. Yes, uzumaki means spiral in Japanese, and naruto has a spiral pattern resembling the Naruto whirlpools. Although the origin of naruto is unclear, it is said to be named after the whirlpools. --Shinkansen Fan (talk) 06:49, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
