Another Lion?[edit]

[1] mentions another HMS Lion, contemporary with HMS Lion (1777):

14 guns, Lieutenant Tatham. She was an 86 ton cutter hired by the Royal Navy between 1793 and 1801 and manned by a crew of 36 - does anyone have anything other information mentioning her, before I add her in?

Hmm - it's not impossible for Colledge to be wrong, but I'd weigh that more heavily than the website, which doesn't provide a source that I can see. Possibilities include a mistaken name, or that cutter was a hired privateer or some such, not actually a commissioned vessel. I'd leave a parenthetical note at the end of this article, collecting the basic stats from the website (in case it goes away), in the hopes that some future person will have a bit of data to resolve the conundrum.
