Speedy deletion nomination of Re-x[edit]

A tag has been placed on Re-x requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. January 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Men's Cup has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://synchrowords.blogspot.com/2009/04/mens-cup-2009.html. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Men's Cup do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 23:31, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ana Srsen has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. A tag has been placed on Otokultivator requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Removing Speedy at Otokultivator[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from Otokultivator. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willingly to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 21:03, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What on earth are you considering editing or attacking? - I was ignored for my work and just wasted 2 hours of my time in trying to reason with you over 2 pages - one that is deleted for no good reason and other I tried to setup and your smarter-than-all editor decides that he takes over and renames the institution! You people have no care for content - just act over formalities and in most automatic inconsiderate way Zblace (talk) 21:17, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have an obvious conflict of interest and you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at Jimfbleak. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Zblace|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message. Also read the following regarding writing an article:

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:46, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So now you change argumentation and insist on other issues which are not issues that require speedy deletion or blocking.

I can not argue in the way with a person who does not read content and keeps changing arguments. Multimedia Institute is respected and 20years + old. It hosted first Croatian presentation of Jimmy Wales /User:Jimbo Wales, localized Creative Commons, promoted open source and open content...yet you keep using all of these commercial accusations and copy/pasting inapplicable regulations. In terms of bias - yes I was one of the co-founders of this Not-for-Profit Civil Society and Community Organization and was paid to work there for about two years in early 2000s, but since then I am member like many others, because it is great and unique organization. If that disqualifies me from making a Wikipedia page on it, than be it. I will not use my time more with someone who has terrible way of communicating and abuses power. Thank you very much! --Zblace (talk) 09:01, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Jimfbleak:I am intervening late in this exchange, sorry. Zblace seems to me of good faith here. I would be willing to help to write such an article, given the fact that I do not have a conflict of interest myself with this association. We have to be welcoming to new contributors, and I find the tone a little harsh here. Could you replace the deleted article in his sandbox so that we can work on it? I would then kindly explain what the problems were and we could try to fix it.Nattes à chat (talk) 09:23, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not create hoaxes on Wikipedia, as you did at Christa Membrandt. Doing so is considered to be vandalism and is prohibited. If you would like to make test edits, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion. Ewa Majewska moved to draftspace[edit]

This needs reliable sources for all statements made in the text - currently, essentially none of the content is refernced. Please don't put articles with such a lack of verifiable sourcing into mainspace. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Looks good to me now - thanks. As indicated, non-primary sources would be better, but this should be good enough for publication, followed by improvement in mainspace. Yup, differences between WPs can be quite marked - the English WP is much more keen on inline cites than many others (e.g., the German WP has many articles without a single one, and porting these here is always a major hassle...) --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 18:23, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry for the effect caused, but was this avoidable? Krvavica is the name of few toponims and popular sausage...who ever did the page without searching first set the conditions for this :-/ Zblace (talk) 19:00, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do not mark major edits as minor[edit]

Information icon Hi Zblace! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. —J. M. (talk) 12:05, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK - I was not aware of that particular rule... Zblace (talk) 12:27, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Haiku OS[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Haiku (operating system). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you.—J. M. (talk) 12:15, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@J. M.: Sorry, but I do not understand the logic of your arguments. Maybe my English wording is sub optimal for encyclopedic style but I only added a reference to one more review from 2018 on Linux.com in the style of others (which you do not mind?)...and than added extra sub-sub-section on release system discussions that exist and are well documented in community via academic speaking at prominent Open Source event FOSDEM. Why revert both? This article needs updates, not deprecated info in purist style. Or you think this particular version of page needs to be printed in hard-copy? This is much against principles of Wikipedia and you for sure do not assume good faith if you just revert everything with generic accusation of disruptive editing. Please correct the text or leave it for me and others to correct. Zblace (talk) 12:27, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I tried rewording the section, removing the unsourced and non-notable parts, making it at least somewhat encyclopedic in style and tone, following the neutral point of view policy. In general, Wikipedia should not rely on primary sources too much (the article should mainly say what third-party sources say about Haiku, not what Haiku says about itself) and it should definitely not try to add any personal interpretation (your edit relied too much on your own editorializing). BTW, your link to Matthew Fuller led to the rugby footballer.
I am still not convinced the section, even in this reduced state, is notable—it is just a single blog post from 2010, and Wikipedia should not dedicate whole sections to (or even mention) anonymous blog posts. But it is now at least a little bit more acceptable than the previous version (which still does not really mean it is OK).—J. M. (talk) 14:48, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@J. M.: Sorry, but this is terrible misunderstanding. You totally misunderstood it. It is not about HAIKU saying something about itself, or about the blog post per-se. It is about an academic researcher giving a public talk at prominent conference and blog-post is just reflection of the speaker (he is also not anonymous) who is also writing as a critical voice over the discussions in community that awaits major release. I will give another go at it. Thank you for correcting link on prof. Fuller / had no idea there was more than one. -- Zblace (talk) 16:23, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You should have included that link right away, instead of providing an anonymous blog post as the only source. Anyway, even if it was a voice from the outside, I really don't think a talk at a conference, or generally this person, deserves more than this brief paragraph in its current form, in accordance with WP:WEIGHT (many editors could successfully argue that even this brief paragraph gives it too much prominence).—J. M. (talk) 16:44, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Blog post was not anonymous, if one clicks the nick, full and real name is displayed. This person presented fairly radical non-normative proposal and vision for community that decided not to do major release of OS for 20 years - I think that is quite exceptional for this field. I think it would be better that your patrolling is in the topics for which you know, add and edit content. Thank you for technical tips! I appreciate that. --Zblace (talk) 09:22, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Skirt-bag moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Skirt-bag, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. Your draft article, Draft:Christa Membrandt[edit]

Hello, Zblace. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Christa Membrandt".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 21:37, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Women in Red[edit]

Hi there, Zblace, and welcome to Women in Red. I'm glad to see you enjoyed yesterday's event and are now keen to contribute to our project. Back in 2011 you created a short biography of a women but there have not been any since. If you haven't already done so, it might therefore be useful for you to look through our Ten Simple Rules. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 13:00, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Ipigott! I did a bit more on correcting and updating, but indeed I did not do much. I will check that essay carefully...meanwhile I did a quick translation from Croatian Draft:Urša Neda Raukar-Gamulin, but I can not guess if she can pass notability so far *(still need to update both HR page with professional work). Zblace (talk) 14:51, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for making such a quick start. The Raukar-Gamulin page seems to be coming along quite well but as she is still living, we really need at least three good secondary sources to justify her inclusion. Acceptance is a bit easier for people who are no longer alive.--Ipigott (talk) 16:06, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ipigott - could you please check if this is sufficient to move it from Draft to Main namespace? Could you do it and just quickly check my English? Sorry to ask so much :-) Zblace (talk) 18:28, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Zblace: As far as I can see, the sources referenced in the article do not give specific coverage of Raukar-Gamulin and she does not appear to have been successful in the elections. Even if I were to move the article to mainspace, it would probably be nominated for deletion.--Ipigott (talk) 21:49, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ipigott by non specific - you mean she needs to be the focus of the work, rather than reference just confirm the statement in the sentence? If that is the case than it can stay in Draft a bit more. I added two news articles where her stories are focus and one interview + some updated and linked filmography. Zblace (talk) 07:16, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the subject of the biography needs to be covered at some length. For biographies of living people, at least three good secondary sources are required. See Primer for creating women's biographies for further explanations.--Ipigott (talk) 09:19, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

News On Wiki check-in[edit]

Hi there! Thank you for your interest in our campaign to improve the public's knowledge about local newspapers. Time has flown since we got going in September, and our six month campaign ends in just a month! We'd like to check in with you about work you have done, or any articles you'd like to write or edit to do before we wrap up.

We published a mid-campaign report, highlighting strong work from several Wikipedia editors (both new wiki folks and veterans); contributions from Kristy Roschke's journalism course at Arizona State University; and strong engagement from groups like AfroCROWD and Wikimedians of the Caribbean.

As we begin our final push, we would love to learn what you have been working on, or help you with any challenges. We're hosting several informal video conference sessions in the next week. (If that format is no good for you, just let us know.) We'd love to hear what newspapers have caught your interest, any articles you've already written, and also any kind of support you could use in writing up newspapers that lack Wikipedia entries. We'll focus especially on newspapers of the Caribbean in our final month, as we continue to work on Black-owned U.S. newspapers, and newspapers of Washington State. Please register for one of these Zoom meetings. If these times don't work for you, or if you hate Zoom, etc., just reply here (please include the text "[[User:Peteforsyth]] and [[User:Shanluan]]" so we get notifications), and we'll find another way to connect with you.

We hope to hear from you soon! -Pete Forsyth (talk) 00:51, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Pete Forsyth! I am contributor to Croatian Wikipedia, member of LGBT+ UG and initiator of m:exPatYUGOsiasporas, so would love to help with media that in any way relates to those issues if possible. Any advice? Zblace (talk) 07:44, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Diane-charlemagne-ist-tot- (cropped).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 19:06, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Whpq - do you mind explaining me why this image was deleted? I assumed that for a dead person without public domain photos this kind of low resolution photo would be ok. Thank you in advance. Zblace (talk) 20:45, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The source you provided indicated that the image was from dpa, a commercial newswire and photo service. See WP:F7 point b. If you can find an image that is not from a commercial agency, then you should be okay. -- Whpq (talk) 21:03, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Whpq no I could not. They are all commercial except maybe this bootleg video recording, but that one is illegal and nasty quality https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Diane_Charlemagne_bootleg_recording.jpg Zblace (talk) 22:01, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That image does not belong on Commons. It is not freely licensed. Publicity photos from record labels, for example could be used. Perhaps [1] or [2]. -- Whpq (talk) 22:10, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I fail to understand why one commercial photo could be used while other not? None have explicit licencing so they are all copyrighted in a way no? Zblace (talk) 22:14, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Either way I OK with whatever ends being published...but would like to understand the logic a bit better Zblace (talk) 22:25, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:NFCC#2. Commercial photo agencies such as Associated Press or Getty Images are in the business of licensing their images to multiple customers. That's how they make their money. This is on contrast to a publicity photo taken for a record label which is usually issued as part of press releases and whatnot and do not bear additional licensing costs to those using the image. If you are confused by copyrights an non-free content rules on Wikipedia, Media Copyright Questions is a good place to post your questions. -- Whpq (talk) 23:16, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK - now I understand...it is not only if they are copyrighted, but inside of which economy. Thank you. Makes sense.Zblace (talk) 23:26, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Positions of authority[edit]

Hi Zblace. I am well aware of the power imbalance between administrators and non-administrators. If you look into my history, you will see many attempts to redress that imbalance, indeed, as recently as my last 50 edits. However, I don't believe your solution - that of "[making] statements in anonymous way and backed by evidence diffs" is the right one. For one thing, context matters, as does reputation. If an individual has a history of harassment - they should not be able to make anonymous statements, with or without evidence. We have a number of individuals who are regularly harassed on Wikipedia - and an anonymous route for user management would lead to those individuals being horribly treated. The individual in question would be a significant targets of such harassment, as would much of our more diverse membership. Instead, I made a statement, months ago, backed by evidence that explained my concerns. The statement went largely ignored, and when further questions were requested, I re-iterated it.

The community is aware of my history. I have unblocked disruptive users, who have gone on to be disruptive. I have unblocked disruptive users who have not. I have worked against harassment. I have pushed for users to be able to vanish - I could go on. More than once - I have stepped outside the norms, because I believed the action I was taking was right. I'm still here - I am a member of the current Arbitration Committee, and I am certainly aware of the wider issues that are leading to the UCoC. I'm certainly happy to discuss any such issues. Multiple accounts and COI[edit]

Hi. I'm Barkeep49, an editor and checkuser on English Wikipedia. Checkuser evidence from another wiki indicates that you are User:2020W and User:QueerSEE. I have blocked those two accounts as they do not appear to follow our rules that allow for alternative accounts. Further, QueerSEE created an article (now in another user's userspace) for which you have a clear conflict of interest. If I become aware of the creation/use of any other accounts or further editing which violates our conflict of interest guideline I will have to block this account as well. Barkeep49 (talk) 00:59, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Barkeep49: I think this is a harsh decision for someone who seemed not really familiar of the implementations of the rules and there should have been prior notice and exeplanations for him to make things good (what we call a consequence ladder), and the issues on the croatian wikipedia should be taken into account. While I agree the User:2020W and User:QueerSEE should be blocked, I think the Zblace account, should be restored and good faith presumed, provided this never happens again. Now Z.Blace has no possiblity of discussong herre anymore so what would the procedure be if he wanted to ask for an exemaination of his case? Arbcom? @Nattes à chat I had nothing to do with Zblace being globally locked and indeed had chosen under enwiki policy not to block this account. That decision was made without my knowledge by a steward on a global basis. Barkeep49 (talk) 12:21, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Barkeep49: - I fully agree with your decision. I was not informed of policies (did no intentional abuse here) and was not aware of specific protocol how to announce the accounts to different projects (I did confirm it to checkuser Vermont, informed Wikimedia Trust and Safety team and LGBT+ UG by email), but than also how to retire when I stopped using them.
What is the way to get in touch with you directly now that my account is globally locked? Could you email me pls? --93.143.127.79 (talk) 16:22, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what private/direct communication is helpful at this point. The first step would be to get unlocked globally for which I cannot help you, you'll need to email the Stewards for that. I'm of course happy to talk to any steward about this but this kind of decision making is beyond my scope so I can't really be of assistance to you. When/if you are able to get the account unlocked you should then be able to email me about any enwiki issue. Barkeep49 (talk) 16:34, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If things would work better I would say you are correct again @Barkeep49:, but I emailed Stewards almost immedietly and heard nothing back (this is #4 week now), meanwhile in chats and unofficially I have heared that there is a cue of 800 and 1000 unaswered emails by Stewards and my attempts to reach Steward who performed lock on IRC failed (he ignored me) and than he also deleted his Telegram contact and chat connection. If they are handfull of volunters with huge backlog I do not expect that they will do more than technical minimum to flip through emails, for which I fear complexity of my case is too much.
On the other hand I would hope that your explicit statement that there was un-informed, but not abusive use of account 2020W (exclusivly during most problematic period of Croatian Wikipedia and only for content, never votes or similar) would be beneficial to save my 19year old account on EN Wikpedia. Also on Simple Wikipedia I was blocked due to losing civility in communication with trolls, not because of abuse of multiple accounts (Admin and checkuser Vermont new about it 3 months before)...so I am locked globally for something that neither Simple nor EN, let alone other projects found disruptive. It is super problematic lock action. --93.143.127.79 (talk) 18:35, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This is not the first time I have heard about stewards communications being backlogged. However, as I am not sure I can help with that as I try to respect stewards authority/process in the same way I hope that they respect enwiki's. Barkeep49 (talk) 22:49, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Barkeep49: maybe I was not clear enough. I just wanted to have super clear situation here and with you, as I think your recent action triggered the locking, though it was not intentional or desired by you. I think EN did not have any compromises or expereinced long term abuses from my Zblace account (or of others, but indeed they were not not declared). While my Zblace account on Simple was blocked due to '(in)civility' issues...regardless the steward saw it as LTA. It is paradoxical that User:2020W was created to difuse my work on Croatian queer, feminist, leftist content, during reign of nationalist-rightwing admins (and unused since) and User:QueerSport for publishing on sport diversity and inclusion (was active 24h and closed few days later), but now I am penalised with the most technocratic interpretation of regulations (though I did what I thought was enough at the time, informed checkuser and WM Trust&Safety team). As you work on CoC inplementation (from what I heard in Wikimania), this sounds like a textbook example of what is wrong with current setup. No? --93.137.4.204 (talk) 08:44, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
From just an enwiki perspective, another CU might have chosen to block all the accounts because of the edits of QueerSport. I choose not to after considering that the attempted article creation was quickly moved out of mainspace, the timing of the use of alternative accounts, and in light of your overall record. This was a discretionary call on my part. I certainly understand your frustration at the slowness at which this process moves. This has been something that this ArbCom has been trying to do better with on enwiki but even with that commitment it's hard. Further, I am not sure adding a UCoC enforcement level will actually help make things move faster. Instead I think UCoC enforcement will hopefully help us arrive at a "just" solution for individuals and the projects as a whole more often though not necessarily at a faster rate. Barkeep49 (talk) 16:00, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Barkeep49: this is exactly what I wanted to communicate to you about. That page creation was a test (email announced) to see how different projects (focus was Simple, Commons, Wikidata, SH and HR) and their active members respond (users who are trolling, sealioning, do content supression using tech. and procedural excusses, as well as how mainstream act or not) to that type of content...
I have no high hopes of UCoC speeding things up, but bringing content and context to the otherwise to often tech-only regulations and aplication of rulles (partly understandable as it is mostly done by people who have highest tech skills). For sure I think you understand that as Croatian I feel that system failed us for more then a decade with Wikipedia in Croatian left to local 'authonomy', while actually being radically rightwing and supressing new users and any development *(there were no organized off wiki projects, affiliates, meetings...total fail), beyond just 'information accuracy'. Anyway - I will not push you into this conversation as it is your right to choose access and modality to use of your own volunteer time. Thank you. --93.143.96.191 (talk) 04:58, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
English Wikipedia has had some bad experiences with being used for unannounced research so we have a policy which forbids it. Meaning under enwiki policies and guidelines that explanation does not offer any mitigation for the violation of the socking policy. As for Croatian wikipedia yes I certainly understand how you feel the system has failed - and the reason you feel that way is because the system did fail you, other editors, and our readers. I am hopeful the UCoC will be able to prevent such failings from persisting. Barkeep49 (talk) 15:07, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Update on my side: I got globally unlocked on Sunday after finally getting a chance to talk to steward who made the lock. They think it is a misfortune that we did not get to talk within first week to resolve it, but I think this should just not happen and should structurally not relay on good or bad fortune. Considering how frustrating this was for such a long time, I am not sure how to go about it to prevent this ever happening to anyone else. Any ideas? @Barkeep49 --Zblace (talk) 06:18, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats on being unlocked. However, I don't know that this situation is one that is common enough that we need to figure out how to prevent it from happening in the future. What would you want to make sure couldn't happen in the future to someone? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:59, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think the worse aspect of this is when someone gets blocked/locked, is that they get overly short technical / cryptic / no message, that is not informative and helpful. Then if process exist it needs to be better so people do not wait without a clue on what is what and when is happening. Aside from frustration with lock *(for which I never got email, unlike for the local block), waiting clueless is something to solve with transparency. --Zblace (talk) 04:13, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Barkeep49: good to know for EN, but Simple admin was informed as did few others in WMF, but none objected though there was an opportunity to do so. I wish I can share your optimism, but after waiting for a full month to get official feedback, you can imagine that I feel that there are many more things are broken in WM then just prevention mechanisms. Regardless good luck with your work! --93.143.102.105 (talk) 11:32, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
