Southampton Games[edit]

I'm new to this. Not sure how to properly do this. Dia only played a game for Saints. Yet some joker went and put 172 and a bunch of goals. I'm going to change that to 1 w/ zero goals. ~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:346:1000:32A0:2791:A78C:42E3:2C09 (talk) 23:43, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

Are you sure this is the correct spelling of Ali's surname (isn't it Daei, Diea or something)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.153.72.206 (talkcontribs) 14:41, December 6, 2004

That's the most common spelling if you Google it - maybe you're getting confused with the Iranian player Ali Daei? Qwghlm 18:30, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Ali Daei was a very good Iranian striker, Ali Dia was useless and Senagalese.

Two different people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.179.236.32 (talkcontribs) 05:01, March 17, 2006

Who else but Souness would have signed this joker —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.16.174 (talkcontribs) 03:29, June 13, 2007

Cracked[edit]

Are you sure you want to use cracked.com as a source, seeing it is a humor web site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.79.207.219 (talk) 16:45, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see Cracked quoted as a source, most of the links are to British newspapers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.98.209.205 (talk) 11:34, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New article on Ali Dia[edit]

Hello everyone,

A long-form investigative article has just been published by Bleacher Report: http://thelab.bleacherreport.com/finding-ali-dia/

in it, the journalist has done a lot of work investigating Ali Dia's career and story, including meeting Ali Dia himself. Insofar as the article's sources are valid and the journalist can be trusted (I'm sure the journalist can be contacted for her sources and it seems entirely trustworthy), much more information can be used in the Wikipedia page and it directly disproves many parts of this. I think some rewriting needs to be done. --146.162.241.244 (talk) 16:54, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Problem is, the article is not conclusive about anything. Everything is couched as hearsay. For example, his sister says that he knew Weah, but his son did not. Also, other people involved declined to comment or get back to the writer. PSG/Southhampton did not respond. The feeling I got from the article was that the author believed that Southampton played it up to save face, whereas Dia should never have played at such a high level and it was really Souness' fault . However, none of this is conclusive. I don't know how one would be able to use the article other than developing into a "but he said" type of thing, which I don't think helps the wiki entry all that much. 2601:645:8300:4F46:250C:389C:D236:8808 (talk) 00:11, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Even the interviewee comments that "it's been a while". There's little here than can be relied upon to disprove all the reliable sources already quoted in the Wikipedia article. Sussexpeople (talk) 11:00, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction between this article and the one on Graeme Souness[edit]

Here it is stated that Dia replaced Le Tissier in the 32nd minute of the Southampton F.C. vs. Leeds United match held in November 1996 and was then himself substituted in the 85th minute. This means that he spent 53 minutes on the pitch. However, according to the Souness article, Dia only played for 20 minutes before being replaced. Does anyone have a link to the match report in order to clear up things?
