Alhambra High School[edit]

Nothing on the page suggests this school is notable. Edward 15:09, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Well, it is said to be the largest school in the district, and has a (warning, weasel words) cheerleading team "regarded by some" as the best in the state. Founded in the 1800s with 3,000 students I think it may be sufficiently notable. On the other hand, the article is an orphan. It should be linked from Alhambra, California, I suppose. Keep. — David Remahl 15:22, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Not notable. An unattributed assertion that "Its cheerleading and sports teams are regarded by some as the best in the state" is not convincing evidence of notability. Suggest contributors put the objective facts into Alhambra, California. BEEFSTEW points A, B, C, D, 4/10. I appreciate the work that goes into making the article at least appear presentable, with a taxobox and all, but when it comes to content there's nothing there. The effort would have been better spent in finding information about the school that makes it stand out from thousands of similar schools. Or building a good tabular summary of the basic facts about all of Alhambra's schools.[[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 15:29, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. "Non-notable high school" is a contradiction in terms. Dr Zen 00:54, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • For this to be a contradiction in terms, the definition of one of these phrases would have to be the opposite of the definition of the other phrase. While you may feel personally that all high schools are inherently notable, I would be curious to know how your opinion makes this a contradiction in terms when the definitions of "not notable" and "high school" contain no language that places these phrases in opposition to each other. • Delete: Some people will vote "keep" without even reading the article, I think. Just a school. "Some (deranged/local/patriot/fans) people consider its (women's/JV/alumni) football and (male/alumni/JV/ volunteer) cheerleading teams the best in the state (of confusion/solids)." Just a school. Geogre 03:24, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I resent the implication. I read the article. It's not a great article. There are thousands of not great articles on Wikipedia. Luckily, there's a wiki to fix them! Dr Zen 03:31, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Why do you think I was referring to you? Odd. I take your last sentence to mean that you're about to start expanding the article? Geogre 07:11, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Nothing notable about this school. Every high school in the world does not need to be in an encyclopedia. --L. Pistachio 03:34, Dec 3, 2004 (UTC)
    • That's true, in the sense that we don't need to have thorough information. It'd be nice, though. I contribute to Wikipedia because I would like to see an amazingly comprehensive encyclopedia be developed. Factitious 10:44, Dec 3, 2004 (UTC)
