Category:Intercontinental ballistic missiles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Developed during the Cold War, ICBMs are large missiles, almost invariably fitted with nuclear warheads, designed to be launched from their home country and reach targets around the globe, leaving no corner safe from attack and retaliation in the case of a nuclear war.
  • Most are based in permanent silos, but some are mobile.
  • To achieve intercontinental range, ICBMs essentially always enter space, and hence may be technically classed as spacecraft.
