I haven't seen this episode, so:

The time traveller, Nicholas Prentice, has done this because Andy will one day assassinate the President of the United States. In 2013 at a ceremony marking the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg, Andy will shoot the president to honor of the flag of Confederate states of America. Prentice wants to show Vince that "there is no glory in this or any other war."

Why does Prentice want to show Vince anything? It's Andy who will one day shoot the president. Is it a typo? It could also use some more context as to why Andy feels so strongly about the Confederate states.

Andy decides to fight for the Confederates in order to make himself feel important.

There has to be more to it than that. Has Andy suddenly found something worth being part of and fighting for... etc etc.

Vince drops a book about battles of the Civil War, and it is found by a woman, but it has little impact on the episode. The woman returns the book towards the end of the episode.

This bit of the synopsis can probably go, unless there's something else to the book.

Andy does not learn his lesson, and tries to stop Pickett's Charge in order to acheive a Confederate victory, even after Prentice explains why he has been sent back there. Andy is deemed a coward and shot by a Confederate soldier.

Pickett's Charge needs a bit of explanation in this article. After clicking on the link it turns to be a disasterous military operation for the confederates that was a turning point in the war -- but it needs to be clear in this article without having to read another.

The Confederate colonel who was accidentally transported to 2013 shoots a man dressed as Abraham Lincoln, thinking he really is Lincoln. He also shoots the President in the process.

Needs to be clearer, perhaps something like: The Confederate colonel accidentally transported to the 2013 anniversary of Gettsburg does not realise he is no longer at the real battle, and shoots a man dressed as Abraham Lincoln — and also the real president of 2013.

The episode ends with Prentice shaking his head.

Needs to be made a bit clearer. Presumably, Prentice is shaking his head because his mission has completely failed. Andy is dead and the the president was still assassinated? Motor 09:56, 2005 Mar 26 (UTC)

Andy did not fail to learn his lesson[edit]

In my reading of the episode, it was clear he tried to stop Pickett's Charge because he was appalled at the loss of life, not to achieve a Confederate victory. It was, as Prentice said, his way of "changing his destiny".
