Could someone check up on the RAM-addition feature of that Supercharger thing? There seems to be some confusion of the RAM vs audio cassette (viz, ROM) capabilities of that peripheral. Wernher 00:40, 14 Nov 2003 (UTC)

-It's RAM. Once the power is cut off, poof, you gotta reload it. The tapes contain the game data, which is loaded onto the Supercharger's RAM, which is then read by the game system. It doesn't give the 2600 any new capabilities, which is what we typically think of when it comes to RAM expansion, but does allow for larger games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:A000:71C5:2800:5C7:B124:F065:4314 (talk) 13:04, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just an opinion[edit]

I think the description of the RAM capability is missing the point. Game cartridges stored the game code in ROM and executed the game from ROM, so the 128 bytes RAM was only required for "variables". To load games from cassette there needed to be RAM to store the game code. Futher typically a game cartridge may be equipped with more or less ROM to accomodate a specific game. OTOH if a game did need more RAM then this would have had to be built into the cartridge pushing up costs 80.229.249.36 (talk) 19:01, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
