Cartoon[edit]

That cartoon has 0 context to it, someone who was around at that time, could they pelase add a bit of context so the joke is udnerstandable as well as the reason why Ablett is included? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.138.202.144 (talk) 13:58, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Two Things ...[edit]

First of all, there is no way that that image in the infobox is free. Secondly, there is a section with "Off field controversies" in which the heroin incident is cited. However this happened 3 years AFTER the guy's retirement. I though Off Field controversies were those that happened whilst you are still playing. With that said, this stuff should probably belong in the "Personal Life" section of the article. --Spewmaster 02:06, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you look at what the infobox image is registered under, it isn't noted as being "free". It's a scan from The Age newspaper, and duly noted as being such. It's qualification for use here can be found in the Fair Use rationale.

Your point regarding off-field controveries is noted, and needless to say, I agree.

Fair use rationale for Image:Ablettdvdcover.jpg[edit]

Image:Ablettdvdcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The result of the proposal was Support. Allied45 (talk) 08:02, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Gary AblettGary Ablett, Sr. — His son, Gary Ablett, Jr. has been (arguably) the premier player of the AFL for the past three seasons and has become notable enough that the name Gary Ablett by itself could refer to either of them. His father is now almost always referred to as Gary Ablett, Sr. anyway. I propose that this article becomes a disambiguation page, like we have done with Haydn Bunton. Jevansen (talk) 01:11, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support turning this into a disambiguation page. I am not so sure on the Sr. disambiguation however. Unlike Gary Ablett jr. I am not so sure that his father is widely known as Gary Ablett sr. Would a birth date disambig. be better? -- Mattinbgn\talk 02:56, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support – Gary Ablett, Jr. is a high-profile player who receives a lot of media coverage, and is often simply referred to as Gary Ablett (move should be to Gary Ablett, Sr., and Gary Ablett turned into a disambiguation page) – Allied45 (talk) 05:56, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Agree completely with Allied45. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:05, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as per the Bunton precedent.The-Pope (talk) 14:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as per Bunton. Dismas|(talk) 05:44, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
