This page was created in reaction to a number of stub articles about minor characters in the Star Wars universe that kept showing up on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. Note that currently redirects of this form will not behave differently from a redirect to the whole page, but:

1. they give a hint to other editors of the intention of the redirect; and
2. a feature for handling them "properly" may be added in a later version of the software.

Splitting up this page

At this time (30-AUG-2004), there are about 50 minor characters listed here. If this list continues to grow, it will eventually be long enough to require splitting into multiple pages. The easiest way to do it would be along alphabetical lines, but there are other ways it could be done as well: Jedi, Expanded Universe, Imperials, Rebels, Aliens, etc. Kevyn 23:35, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

General Veers

I also agree with this. General Maximillian Veers is outgrowing his section here at minor characters. I suggest we re-create his article, move everything here over, and provide a summary and link to his article from this page, much like articles for planets do in Planets of Star Wars. Separate page for expanded universe?

Who's with me on the creation of a separate page Minor characters from the Star Wars expanded universe, for those characters who never appear in any of the films. As a fan of the original movies, but someone who could really not care less about all the thousands of books and whatnot that people create to make more money off the Star Wars name, I sort of think they clutter up this list, which is now pretty long. I mean "Luuke Skywalker"? What the crap is that about? I swore it was a typo at first. What do people think? -R. fiend 05:26, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Maybe we can put an asterisk next to characters who appear in the expanded universe like what we did with Star Wars ships.- B-101 16:05, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

It only seems necesesary if the list really gets out of hand. First, we must find all the character stubs that are floating around wikipedia and merge them into this article. Only then can we determine if a EU page is needed. -- Riffsyphon1024 18:52, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)

A joke?

This page can't be serious. 'List of minor residents of what the f***'?! 'List of minor Star Wars policemen'?! 'List of minor Star Wars yankee doodle characters'? Someone has editted this page, methinks.

Revamp

I'm working on amalgamating this and all the other god-awful lists at Category:Lists_of_Star_Wars_characters to remove all the ORish and arbitrary topics (i.e. what makes a character a "villain"? what if he/she later is "good"?) and repetition (e.g. Leia shows up on several of them). Once I've squished them together, they can be broken up just alphabetically like the slightly-less-crappy Star Trek character lists. I've copy-and-pasted these lists as of ~11:30EST 3 Oct -- if you make any additions to this list, I'll try to be sure to maintain them in the reworked version, but please be mindful that something might accidentally be overlooked. Redirect

I plan on Monday to replace the current content of List of Star Wars characters with the material at User:EEMIV/StarWarsCharacters, and then to redirect this page to that updated list. Much of the content on this page will go away -- for the better. Wikipedia is an indiscriminate collection of information, even on its list pages, and many of the entries were are truly insignificant characters.
