Missing personal life information

According to a NYT article published upon his death:

"Abbot Loori was married to Nancy Decker and Joan DeRiso (both marriages ended in divorce) and had a long relationship with Bonnie Treace. He is survived by his wife, Rachael Loori Romero; his brothers Joseph Lori and Sal Salerno; his sons John, David and Asian; and four grandchildren."

None are mentioned in the entry.

Poor verifiability

Citations were requested for various facts, but these have now all been filled with links to a biography published on Loori's own website! Specifically, where is an independent source verifying his Rinzai lineage, and where is an independent source verifying his status as a "trained scientist"? 81.156.179.91 (talk) 15:48, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Daido always has been a tough one to create a biography for. Lots of info out there in books, and yet very little info! I'll do a rewrite here soon as I have found an independent university press that writes of his Rinzai connection. Unfortunately it does not give many details, though it does state it. Thanks for that. It seems that his Rinzai lineage must have come through Maezumi who (according to Maezumi's wikipedia bio) was trained by a Rinzai lay person. It would be nice to have this stated explicitly with a citation, though. 91.106.135.213 (talk) 10:57, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Note further that the page was completely rewritten the day after my above comment. I am restoring the old version, because a) it's copyrighted. The person who put it here might own the copyright—who knows?—but, if so, he or she should at least do us the favor of clarifying this (same goes for the picture); also, b) the copy from a website is natural promotional in tone and therefore less encyclopedic. - Nat Krause 20:04, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

i think the page was put up by the monastry so its really publicity, won't be any copyright issues. in fact his claim to fame is as one of the centuries leading photographers, not well known as such but they have a brillance that will last. Osip7315 13:15, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

:True, Loori is a photographer. A leading photographer? That's highly subjective. Sometimes I get the feeling you think Wikipedia is nothing more than an Amazon.com review. You insert so much personal opinion into contributions you make. Osip, do you even know the difference between objectivity and subjectivity? Do you know why such a grasp of this difference is so important when it comes to encyclopedic authorship on a website such as this? By the way, I agree with Nat. Blatant copy/paste jobs from others websites should be removed unless they are explicitly posted by the actual author of the original. I have drawn a line through this as I do not feel this way and wonder what was going on with me at the time I wrote it. My apologies.

He was a student of Minor White, who was a leading photographer, and Daido does have some published books of photography. I don't know if the publications are more due to his other achievements though. I wouldn't call him a leading photographer. --DanielCD 17:06, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
