So what's the connection between Hinduism and Hindi or Hindustani (other than being derived from "Sindhu")? Why're Hindi and Hindustani mentioned in Hindu_(disambiguation)? Ambarish | Talk 06:58, 25 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Hindu_(disambiguation) is not about Hinduism. I've put back Hindi because there is a widely-prevalent misconception of Hindu being the language spoken in India. Also I've replaced Hindustani language with Hindustan, the land of the Hindus. Jay 10:59, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I wasn't aware about the misconception about Hindu being an Indian language. Could you provide some references? A Google search didn't provide too many clues - most of the results seem to be (mis-)references to Sanskrit as a Hindu language. Ambarish 21:56, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Hindi or Hindu
Hindi/Hindu, linked off of Common Errors in English Usage. Personally, I've heard the people make the mistake many times in my presence, as can be seen by this link Innkeepers who speak Hindu off of google:hindu+hindi
