As a matter of interest, why is it preferable to remove the <br> and put in a blank line? (see recent edit) The <br> was put in using the toolbar so is it not an accepted way of doing things? John F 29 Oct 2007

The answer is in WP:MOS that says:
Keep markup simple
Use the simplest markup to display information in a useful and comprehensible way. Markup may appear differently in different browsers. Use HTML and CSS markup sparingly and only with good reason. Minimizing markup in entries allows easier editing.
In this context there is no good reason to use <br>. Use of HTML and CSS codes will tend to put off potential contributors who are not familiar with them which is why they should be used sparingly.
Hope this helps. Saga City 16:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I see what you mean. I would still suggest that the existence of a button on the Wikipedia toolbar for the purpose of putting in a line break suggests that a) the Wiki guys accept it's use, and b) users would not actually need to understand HTML to click said button. Also, it limits formatting options in that you can't have a line break without a blank line as well if you don't use <br>. However, it's no big deal, and I agree with the principle of keeping it simple. John F 13:12 6 Nov 2007 (UTC)

Title of article[edit]

Why is not just Raunds? Is there another? Saga City 07:40, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)

I agree, I think the article should be renamed back to Raunds. The same goes for Rushden and others changed at the same time. No reason was given for renaming these articles. Chris Jefferies 11:51, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Additions by 213.208.101.117[edit]

I think the additions [1] by [User:213.208.101.117] are complete nonsense, and I've reverted them. If you must put them back, I'd really like to see proof that this isn't just a total fabrication. -- Ch'marr 10:04, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

pronunciation[edit]

It would be useful to have a broad IPA transcription of how the town's name is pronounced.
