Exit list[edit]

Shouldn't the exit list be written in a table format?

I don't know that it's absolutely necessary, but I do agree the current way looks too cluttered. So I've come up with a table format that I'll put in and we'll see how it goes. --Pedriana July 1, 2005 03:50 (UTC)

Date Clarification[edit]

The article implies that the Downtown Connector was constructed in the early 1950’s, however the connector itself was not constructed until the early 1960’s. Ivan Allen Jr. oversaw the early phases of its construction during his years as mayor of Atlanta. This should be changed as the article needs to be written in such a way as to clarify these dates, please see the following source material;

Traffic counts[edit]

I modified the traffic count from 340,000 to 323,000 (the actual number is 322,760). The Georgia DOT Office of Transportation Data source should be the preferred source in this case instead of Forbes. Maybe Forbes used a source which included vehicles coming from I-20 to I-75/I-85 NB and I-75/I-85 SB to I-20, and also used an outdated year (maybe that measure would be 350,000 by now)? But who knows, because they didn't list a source. I tried to give the Forbes source credit and mentioned the "area". Also, even though this Forbes source is short and contains few words, it does contain a few errors/outdated information.

For instance:

  • The picture which is supposed to be of the Mixmaster is actually on I-20 10 miles to the south of the Mixmaster (exit 467).
  • Not all of I-35E in the Dallas area (and especially not "I-35" as Forbes suggests) is known as the Mixmaster. The Mixmaster is ONLY the portion of I-35E where it merges with I-30 and associated ramps.[1] North of this area, I-35E is known as the Lower Stemmons Freeway or the Stemmons Freeway.
  • It is the "Mixmaster", not the "Mix Master".[2][3]

"The Downtown Connector carries more than 323,000 vehicles per day at its busiest point — between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Edgewood Avenue, while no portion of the Downtown Connector carries fewer than 236,000 vehicles per day."
This section seems to be outdated. According to the most recent GA DOT traffic counts (2007), the highest AADT is now 288,330 between MLK JR Drive and Edgewood Avenue. Traffic count, I-75 is SR-401 and I-85 is SR-403 Chriszwolle (talk) 21:26, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Lanes[edit]

The wiki article I-75 claims that the I-75 portion of the interstate immediately north of the 75/85 split is the largest with 15 lanes, and cites a DOV article to back it up. But, this page claims 75/85 to have 16 lanes. Is this confliction of facts because 75/85 is not eligable for the title due to it actually being a dual-interstate?

Just to throw it out, and perhaps stir the pot even more, there is another highway in atlanta with even more lanes. 400 has as many as 18 lanes just before the 7-A exit. Granted, it's a state-funded road.  :-P Skiendog (talk) 19:54, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality of this article[edit]

In the main article, this statement was made, "The proposed Interstate 485 was originally planned by the Georgia Department of Transportation to carry some north-south traffic through the eastern side of the city, but most of this was canceled in the 1970s under Jimmy Carter, former governor of Georgia." My question is, does the reference to Jimmy Carter need to be made since no other references are made to overseeing administrations? The reference doesn't seem neutral to me, and seems to carry a negative connotation. I believe that if (then) Governor Carter is cited as the reason a project, the Downtown Connector in this instance, is or is not completed, then references to other administrations should be made as well. Since it was action by Carter that canceled the project, it seems reasonable to leave that mention in. The I-485 or Georgia 400 articles probably speak to this more. Referencing other administrations would require further research. Did any other governors attempt to revive the project or suggest alternatives? Carter's actions are readily documented.
My question concerning neutrality was intended to encompass the entire article, not just the one project mentioned. Rereading it, I still feel as though there's a lack of overall neutrality as other facets of the article don't cite specific administrations. Alienmindtrick (talk) 20:47, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
