Shillelaghs?

Did the townspeople use shillelaghs to whack snakes? (Even if this name was not used in the episode, shillelaghs could be identified by comparing to these images.) Innuendo?

I've heard debate over whether "Whacking Day" is an innuendo for masturbation/sex (the scene with Homer and Marge, especially). Apparently Matt Groening (spelling?) has denied it numerous times. Should this be mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.244.188.30 (talk • contribs)

It's also noted in the episode capsule that the Seinfeld episode The Contest aired the same day, which seems to be some kind of cosmic coincidence. I want to mention it in the article, but there doesn't seem to be a good place for it. JuJube 11:59, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Good article review

I am passing this article under the criteria because it is well written, factually accurate, verifiable, broad in its coverage, neutral, stable and illustrated. I copy-edited the article. In the future, do not hesistate to edit the reference titles so that they reflect Wikipedia's manual of style, i.e. not all capitals, italics and quotation marks used appropriately. I changed "20th" to "twentieth". I added the job titles of the producers, e.g. it says that Conan O'Brian pitched this scene and a reader might get confused because they do not know of his involvement with the show. –thedemonhog talk • edits 19:21, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
