Route extension?[edit]

The article states the ARR's route is between Seward and Fairbanks. Doesn't it actually continue (freight only) to North Pole? I'm not 100% sure so I didn't want to edit the article.

And then they're finishing building the extension to Fort Greely to serve the new missile launch site there, so we'll need to watch for that...pretty soon, someone'll get to edit it saying the ARR's met with the Canadian rail system! :-)

Answering my own question: yes, there is an 18-mile spur from Fairbanks to North Pole and Eielson AFB. I'm planning to get around to adding a bunch of info to this page someday soon... cluth 21:20, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:JohnGunther 31 July 2021 The text says the railroad once extended to the banks of the Yukon River, however I can't find any evidence of track beyond Chatanika (just 23 miles NW of Fairbanks) which, while in the Yukon watershed is 50 miles by air from the closest approach of the Yukon River.

This is listed as a B-class article. This means it should conform to the assessment criteria for the class. #1 involves citations that include: The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited. Inline citation tags mean there is clear evidence some sections of the article are more than "likely to be challenged". There are other issues including outdated material (April 2010 "is planned") and multiple un-sources paragraphs. The "Routes" section only has 2 out of 6 items sourced. Some of these may be covered by the "General references" subsection but who knows. The "Historical references" is far too long as to violate What Wikipedia is not and entries like the "University of Washington Digital Collection" (in the "External links section) might qualify as a reliable source.
