british[edit]

It is problematic that this listing does not include many of the figures listed under the category "British classical scholars." They are all, obviously, notable as classical scholars, and should be so indexed.

Sure. And not only the Brits. --Barbatus 23:45, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rename?[edit]

This category seems to me to be a bit confusing in its adjectival form. "Classical scholars" could refer to scholars who existed in classical times. The study is usually "the classics", so I would recommend renaming this to "classicists" or "scholars of the classics", or, ideally, "Scholars and academics of the classics". Thoughts? --Lquilter (talk) 16:59, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Does this category contain only university academics and people who did original research? Or do famous schoolteachers and authors of textbooks, such as Thomas Kerchever Arnold and George Bradley (priest) qualify? --Sir Myles na Gopaleen (the da) (talk) 14:15, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
