Request reason:

Requesting an IP address block exemption, because when I am logged in, I should be allowed to edit, including from my VPS (which is not an open proxy). Oliverlewis (talk) 08:30, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You need to explain your genuine and exceptional need, as outlined at WP:IPBE. Yamla (talk) 12:02, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The expression "genuine and exceptional need" appears on that page in the section "Used for anonymous proxy editing". I am not using an anonymous proxy. I believe the section "Used to bypass an IP address range block" applies to me. That says: "Who may request - A user affected by an IP address block that is unrelated to their editing and that prevents them editing with a logged-in account." I am using a logged-in account, so I don't understand why the block on this IP address block should apply to me. Oliverlewis (talk) 14:46, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yeap, that indeed looks like it may apply to you. You can make your request via WP:UTRS. --Yamla (talk) 17:12, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I did that first (referenced above), before trying the "unblock" message here. I got a reply by email with some standard text about the problems caused by open proxies and then the statement: "Unfortunately, you won't be able to edit while using this open proxy. Just Chilling English Wikipedia Administrator". If I try again can I expect a different outcome?
