Removal of Misogyny and rape culture within their lyrics section[edit]

This section alone feels more political than factual. It has 1 source of a 1998 peer reviewed paper. I support a 'controversy' section, but these two sentences just fall out of place. PeaceKeeper1234 17:35, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Snoop Dogg was a member from 1999 to 2002[edit]

Sources state that Snoop Dogg was recruited by Dr Dre in 1999 to replace Eazy-E on the proposed reunion album Not These Niggaz Again.

Please read the sources. There is a direct quote from Dr Dre stating that Snoop was the fourth member of the reformed group. There are multiple sources stating that he was to replace Eazy-E on the planned reunion album. - Forty.4 (talk) 16:38, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

'Dre met with Cube, who spent two weeks in November telling him the time was right for an N.W.A reunion. ... instead of Yella, Dre insisted on including Snoop, [who] was commercial and could add "that extra spice that needs to be there." The others had no choice but to go along with it. ... While fans continued to reject Snoop as a replacement for Eazy, [Dre] figured, they could have the album ready in a year then work out which label would release it, since he was signed to Interscope, Cube was still on Priority, and Snoop was with No Limit. ... Dre claimed publicly that their work to date left him unsatisfied. They could try again, he said, but Cube was doing "a big special-effect movie," Snoop had to promote Tha Last Meal ... ["Lay Low"] found Snoop saying, "Snoop and Dre give a fuck about what y'all say/From the 'World's Most Dangerous Group,' N.W.A" ... But the worst mistake, [The D.O.C.] felt, might have been insisting that Snoop be part of the group. Snoop's voice on some songs worked, but his face on an N.W.A record would alienate fans. I did read the sources, but you should go ahead and look up again what no original research means. The sources you provided only prove that Snoop Dogg performed during the tour and on the track (which nobody denied in the first place). I have provided numerous reliable sources that explicitly state that Snoop was inducted into the group by Dr Dre, not merely featured on a song. The sources are quoted here directly above your comment denying that they say what they clearly and explicitly say. Bizarre! Here are a few of the most explicit repeated: "Snoop would be the fourth member of the group." - Dr Dre / "insisting that Snoop be part of the group" - The DOC / "Snoop Dogg replaces late Eazy-E for Not These Niggaz Again" - MTV. It's strange that someone who claims to have followed NWA since 1988 doesn't remember this major detail about their short-lived reunion, but be that as it may, you cannot simply insist brazenly that sources don't say the things that they clearly say. - Forty.4 (talk) 01:07, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And yet, the same Rolling Stone magazine never lists Snoop Dogg as a member [1], neither do the L.A. Times [2], the N.Y. Times [3], TIME [4], ABC [5] and numerous others that I consulted when I searched for references / confirmation that he was an official member of the band. I’ve been following them since 1988 and never did anybody involved state that Snoop Dogg is a member of N.W.A. - esse quam videri - to be rather than to seem (talk) 13:32, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The sources you've provided are not contemporaneous with the ones I've provided. Snoop Dogg was inducted into the reunited group in 1999 for their planned reunion album. Sources from that period (cited above) clearly state this. Since the planned reunion album was never completed, it stands to reason that Snoop's brief membership would gradually recede into the footnotes of the group's history and be reported on less over time. Your sources also don't contradict my sources, ie: none of them state that Snoop was not a member in 1999/2000, they simply report the legacy membership circa 2015/16 as being the surviving original members. It can be true both that Snoop was briefly a member during their short-lived reunion period and that the current legacy membership doesn't include him. Please engage with the cited sources; it's becoming very hard for me to continue to assume good faith here when you say things like "never did anybody involved state that Snoop Dogg is a member of N.W.A." when I have twice directly cited Dr Dre saying "Snoop would be the fourth member of the group," as well as Dre's biographer paraphrasing The D.O.C criticising Dre for that same decision, etc. Or when you claim Rolling Stone "never lists Snoop Dogg as a member," when I have cited their 1999 article explicitly listing the group's members as "Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and Snoop Dogg." Not to mention all the other contemporaneous sources reporting the fact of Snoop's membership. You're simply not engaging with the sources, flatly denying that they say what they clearly say. Use of term "broken English"[edit]

It is stated in this article that "Niggaz Wit Attitudes... is broken English for Niggas With Attitudes." The use of the term broken English is incorrect and can be seen as disrespectful to speakers of African American English. "Niggaz Wit Attitudes" is a band name, making grammatical errors irrelevant, and spelling the words this way is intentional and is part of common spelling and speaking practices in African American English or Language, not broken English, which implies that to speak or spell this way is incorrect or wrong. Calling phrases like this "broken English" has a history of discrimination and racism.
