This article seems to be among the longest ones without an image. Does anyone know if they have can source an image of her to add to the infobox? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andysmith248 (talkcontribs) 21:12, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Names of children?[edit]

How many children does she have? One daughter (Chamelia Bhateli) has been in the press recently for allegedly 'glassing' a man's face in a nightclub argument <http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2055763/Meera-Syals-teenage-daughter-glassed-friends-ex-boyfriend-birthday-party.html> but I think there is another. Are they good actors too? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.42.238.133 (talk) 22:44, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The daughter was found not guilty of the charge. Libby norman (talk) 14:47, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hoss and Jockey[edit]

where she was a regular in the hoss and jockey

Not sure what this means? Typo or esoteric reference? Club? Pub? EdRicardo (talk) 11:08, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

British or English?[edit]

A strange piece of English nationalism there from Oliver Chettle! Since the difference is one of identity, may we ask if this is based on any statement by Meera Syal about HER sense of identity, or is it just Oliver Chettle's personal identity crisis which is reflected here. My memory of reading Anita and Me (several times) is that she talks far more about being British than being English. --Doric Loon 11:43, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC) (A Scottish persepctive!)

I changed the actor cat from British to English a while back, on the basis that she was born and grew up in England. This is the specific (and pretty uncontroversial) sense in which the British subcategories are widely being interpreted. If she was from Cardiff then she'd be Welsh. I see your point, and her sense of identity may be worth including in the article, but its an impractical basis for a category system. OK, it's not a thing I would even have noticed, except that going to the effort specifically of changing it implies an agenda. But if there is a system I will hold my wheesht!. --Doric Loon 08:32, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Chameli[edit]

Hello, does anyone know any thing about meera's daughter from her previous marraige as there is nothing about her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.138.127.86 (talk) 11:56, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life[edit]

"One of her parents is Hindu and the other a Sikh, but their parents embraced their son-in-law." What does this mean? Who are "their parents"? TheOneOnTheLeft (talk) 15:02, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LUTON WOMEN'S AID[edit]

Hi

My name is Sati.I work for an organisation that helps women and children escape doemstic violence. Luton Women's Aid has 4 refuges, one of which a specialised Asian refuge. Currently we are looking to name our refuges, as opposed to calling them House A, B, C and D respectively. Pretty boring, I know, hence the decision to name them.

I would like to suggest we call the Asian refuge Meera House, if this is acceptable to you, since it's being named after you.

I have followed your career with fascination and admiration for a long time, initially because I, too was born in Wolverhampton and am an Indian female, with a daughter and a divorce behind me (also in 2003!). You have truly been an inspiration. I always thought, if she can do it, so can I!

I absolutely adore my job. We have women from all walks of life who come to us for help and support. The tradtitional Asian women find me threatening initially, but come to realise that under my Westernised clothes and independent attitude, that I am an Indian throughout and proud of it. Espescially when we won the Cricket World Series!

I appreciate you are very busy. Being a parent is full time, so fitting in work and marriage you must be extrewmely so. However, I would greatly appreciate if you would respond to this request, whether in agreement or not.

With the utmost respect.

Not writing credits[edit]

Several of the entries listed as her writing credits appear to really be acting credits: The Killing of Sister George, Doctor Who, Beautiful People, The Strangerers, Tandoori Nights, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, likely others. Most are also listed in her filmography in the following section. Someone more familiar with her career should confirm which ones are in error and remove them from the Writing Credits section, moving them as appropriate to the Selected Filmography section.
