I can fix this, but is there any reason why I should when there's already a List of Pokémon? Dysprosia 12:36, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)

This list is in alphabetical order while the other one is in numerical order. The other one is usefull to see who evolves into who, while this one is useful if, for example, someone wants to look up all the Pokémon that start with the letter B. Plus, there's several links here, and its a bit of a let down to tell people you're taking them to an alphabetical list and you show them something else, don't you think?
Additionally, it's always interesting to see what the names were originally like and how they changed when they were translated. Also, I've never been too good remembering Pokémon's numbers, and its easier for me to find a Pokémon when its listed "by name", I'm sure this applies to other people as well.
If you can continue fixing it, please do so, because I have to "log off"

Thank you so much for doing it. What can I do for you in return? (Wikipedia-related or not) (Of course, it would have to be something I can do over the internet)

It's nothing, if you know how to wield regular expressions and a good text editor like vi. As to doing something for me? Wow. Umm.... you could... errrmmm..... oh! Tell me if you can, in Java, check whether a certain object (at runtime or otherwise) implements something. If it looks too complicated, you don't have to find out for me :) It's optional Dysprosia 12:44, 10 Apr 2004 (UTC)

There appears to be a mistake in the Japanese name for one of the Pokémon. Look in the A's in the Japanese list. 207.237.165.125 20:18, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Just to let everyone know, I renamed this page from "List of Pokémon by Name" to "List of Pokémon by name" (that is, I uncapitalized the N). This brings the page in line with Wikipedia naming conventions. Jason One 00:36, 18 Oct 2004 (UTC)

The Japanese name list needs to follow the actual Japanese names and not some Hepburn transliterations of them. See: http://www.filb.de/names-pokemon.php? WhisperToMe 01:47, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Good work[edit]

Good work on this list! I didn't know Dysprosia was involved until now :o). --69.159.5.250 21:28, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rōmaji[edit]

I've done a total inspection of Romaji:

  • Fixed obvious mistakes
  • Revised the i's to ī's for フィ, シィ, etc. on the end of a name.
Japanese pronounce the little ィ on the end of a word with long vowel.
  • Revised ō`ō to ōō.
I think we don't need the ` mark.

Diamond and Pearl Pokemon[edit]

Would it be all right if pokemon from Diamond and Pearl be listed here? Afterall they are new pokemon and therefore are'nt supposed appear in List of Pokémon by National Pokédex number (List of DP pokmemon there before it was removed) and to be listed here. — Fnfd (Talk/ノート) 04:27, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lucario[edit]

There is a Pokemon in the English list named Lucario that just has question marks as it's number. It does not appear in any other lists on the wikipedia. Should it be removed? -007bond 22:16, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is a Fourth Generation Pokémon and hasn't been given a national number yet. You can find it mentioned on the Diamond and Pearl page. -SaturnYoshi 22:41, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No Missingno.![edit]

I'm going to add Missingno. to this page because it's not here. Also 'M.

Only one problem: Missingno. is not a Pokémon, and there are probably 50 people here that will remove it the second you add it, so don't even think about it. DanPMK 02:24, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But, Missingno. IS a Pokémon. It is just one that wasn't included intentionally in the game. 66.224.229.18 15:31, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sortable list[edit]

I thought I should point out that new Wikipedia technology could practically and unupsettingly make this article obsolete. MediaWiki has introduced the ability to make lists sortable. This would mean that we could basically merge the lists of Pokémon by name, stage, National Dex, Johto Dex, Hoenn Dex, and Sinnoh Dex all into one sortable list.

Recall a while ago that some people wanted to delete most of these list articles because there were just so many of them, but the main argument against that was that each needed to be sorted separately. But now that lists can be sorted by the viewers, all these problems can easily be solved!

Well, actually, there are still a few bugs to be worked out. See the discussion at the Pokémon Collaborative Project's talk page if you want to see a few samples and discuss this. --Brandon Dilbeck 20:01, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
