Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?

Antipode[edit]

On Tuesday November 3, User:olleicua (not logged in at the time) added the following to the Geography section:

Antipode[edit]

Cheyenne County is home of the Antipode of Île Saint-Paul making one of the few places in the continental United States where digging a hole directly through the earth's center would not require scuba gear.[1]

One minute later User:Mr. Granger reverted with the following message: "needs a secondary source to indicate significance"

I'm assuming this was done by a bot. If you genuinely don't think this is significant please tell me in more detail why you think so. If I don't hear in a few days I'll unrevert.

Hi Olleicua, thanks for starting this discussion. I don't think the information is significant—most Wikipedia articles about cities and counties don't discuss antipodes, and I don't see any reliable secondary sources discussing the antipode of Cheyenne County, so I don't see any evidence that it's particularly important. If there is such a secondary source, I won't object to re-adding the content. —Granger (talk · contribs) 03:27, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I found this source discussing these antipodes: http://www.weathergraphics.com/tim/antipode/. I agree that most towns don't have antipodes listed but it seems notable to me specifically because it is one of three towns in the U.S. outside of Hawaii to have an atipode on land. According to Wikipedia:Notability#Notability_guidelines_do_not_apply_to_content_within_an_article this is not an issue with notability but rather with due weight. Having read Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view#Due_and_undue_weight and given your comment here, I'm guessing that with this additional source it would be reasonable to add this back. I will be making similar additions to Rudyard, Montana and Prowers_County,_Colorado. If you revert any or all of these again I will respect that. Olleicua (talk) 06:07, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
