Untitled[edit]

I am moving the contents of the page to a new entry Fresh Kills Landfill. The term Fresh Kills properly refers to a stream by that name that drains most of western Staten Island. Decumanus 21:34, 15 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I also making some immediate changes and intend to rewrite the entire article, as it contains a number of errors. In paticular, the landfill is no longer open. The sentence about the Great Wall of China being visible from space is completely anecdotal. Decumanus 21:36, 15 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Why are Fresh Kills separate from the Fresh Kills Landfill that they drain? Shouldn't Arthur Kill be discussed under the unified heading? Potential for understanding is lost in the slicing and dicing. --Wetman 08:00, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
In a related matter, it is not clear that the Fresh Kills is being redeveloped as parkland and reclaimed wetlands. This is clearer on the Fresh Kills Landfill page, where it is said that "Starting in 2003, the site was to be transformed into reclaimed wetlands, recreational facilities and landscaped public parkland, the largest expansion of the New York City parks since the development of the chain of parks in the Bronx during the 1890s. In January, 2005, Staten Island Borough president James Molinaro announced plans to open three roads leading out of the former landfill to regular traffic, as part of an effort to ease the road congestion for which Staten Island has become notorious in recent years." Either this wording should be repreated or rephrased so that this is understood. Digit LeBoid 22:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
