Siva Vaidhyanathan[edit]

Copyrights and Copywrongs: The Rise of Intellectual Property and How It Threatens Creativity. New York: New York University Press, 2001

Siva Vaidhyanathan is an assistant professor of Culture and Communication at New York University. His book Copyrights and Copyrights is a comprehensive history of copyright told from a cultural rather than strictly legal perspective. He asserts that the current copyright regime is stifling culture and is also not well equipped to deal with those traditions that are outside of the mainstream norm (such as blues and hip hop) and that it has strayed far from the law's original intent.

He is also the author of The Anarchist in the Library: How the Clash Between Freedom and Control is Hacking the Real World and Crashing the System.
