System 1[edit]

I thought intermodal tickets were administered by system 1 travel. Are they part of GMPTE or something? Plugwash 01:12, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Moving[edit]

Dunno if it's worth mentioning, but the GMPTE offices which are currently near Piccadilly Gardens, next to the Thistle Hotel (I forget the street name), well they're moving to the building currently being erected directly outside Manchester Piccadilly's main entrance (not Fairfield Street), they're expected to start moving around October 2006.

It's 9 Portland Street, and more likely to be November/December but not into Christmas! ...from a GMPTE worker. Oh also, System 1 are issued by GMPTE.

Glossop district[edit]

Could the article require clarification of Glossop's role within GMPTE? I know too little to add details myself, but, is Glossop, Hadfield et al still not part of GMPTE's remit in the provision of rail services at least? Indeed, it is mentioned as being part of SELNEC but after 1974 it remained within Derbyshire with, I would assume, public transport co-ordination passing to Derby County Council. Ah, so what you are saying is that this page was created in error? Now I understand the TfGM redirect. The main problem with that though is squeezing the GMPTE page into a "history" section of a TfGM article without losing info, could be done though. Don't worry, it's not like there was an obvious discussion anywhere stating this was the plan. Error was maybe a bit strong, there are "accepted practices" but no one is expected to know them before editing. Pretty much anything on here can be changed/moved etc if need be, as long it is a useful addition it will probably be kept in some form.

Anyway, I'll leave this discussion open a little longer to see if there are any objections and then see about moving over the info to the GMPTE page. ChiZeroOne (talk) 00:35, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Problem[edit]

The line,

Doesn't quite make sense because it is the GMCA that will unite transport governance, not TfGM.

The plans to create the GMCA mean that it will become the local transport authority (as it will legally be a local authority) which will then delegate those functions to the TfGMC, a joint-board between the GMCA and the boroughs. Indeed that's true. I'm just not sure how to change the above sentence so it accurately conveys what's happening. TfGM will have more responsibilities than any other transport body after TfL, but it is the GMCA with the powers/influence and the one "uniting previously splintered governance". TfGM/GMPTE[edit]

Why does this need to be it’s own article? TfGM is simply a rebrand of GMPTE, they are the same organisation and legal entity. This isn’t the same story as what has occurred in London or with Transport for West Midlands and West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive?
