I notice in the article on Pamela Paul-Zobaric you stated that she served as an alderman in St. Albert. 5th Northwest Territories Legislative Council

Wondered if you could help here. Abe Okpik was appointed in 1965 to the Northwest Territories Council or Northwest Territories Territorial Council and in 1968 Simonie Michael was elected. Thanks for the reply. Then I guess that "Northwest Territories Council" should remain a redlink until the article is created. I also just noticed that in Northwest Territories general election, 1967, Northwest Territories general election, 1964 and probably others, that there are redlinks to "6th Northwest Territories Council" and "5th Northwest Territories Council". Should they not link to 6th Northwest Territories Legislative Council and 5th Northwest Territories Legislative Council? Thanks too for the kind words on the Okpik article. It started because someone edited Inuit language to say that Project Surname was disliked. But from what I recall most people were and still are positive about it. James Arreak

After a bit of searching it appears that there are two, one is the MLA and the other is a Pastor. If you look at these you can see that this man does not look like the pictures linked to from the James Arreak article. It's fairly clear that the MLA nad the Mayor picture are the same man. If you also check this it mentions a 2004 report about the 36 year old Arreak. That makes the 1968 birthdate correct but for the Pastor. History of Northwest Territories capital cities

Unfortunately, the above article really isn't even remotely within the remit of the Biography project. I think probably the best way to go would be to get a peer review and/or directly apply for FA status. I am going to remove it from the Biography A-Class review section, as the people who review articles there aren't really experts in history or urban studies, which seem to be the primary subjects of this article. Labrador

"The borders of Labrador came into being when Newfoundland joined the confederation" That much is not true, because there was a border adjustment between Quebec and Labrador while Newfoundland was still a division. The question is, was that when the border reached that far inland, or did Newfoundland always claim the deeper border than the "Coasts of Labrador"? Edit summaries/minor edit box

Hi Cloveious, I really like all of the grunt work you do in ficking links and ensuring adherance to wikistyle in succession boxes and the like (especially since a lot of the time I'm the only who but in the improperly-styled boxes). A small request: could you make more extensive use of edit summaries and/or the "minor edit" feature? I ask because you quite often fix articles that I have on my watchlist (which is great), but it's a little tedious to check all of the changes when they're all the kind of fix it edit that I don't really need to check. Ged Baldwin

Please note that the rule on Wikipedia is most commonly recognized name of the topic, not necessarily full name. For example, "Gerald Baldwin" was always known as Ged Baldwin and almost never as Gerald. Similarly, article titles should almost never contain middle names that aren't generally known to the public — even if you have to disambiguate a person from something else, "John Smith (politician)" is the preferred title format on Wikipedia, not "John Nobody-Knows-His-Middle-Name-is-Michael-But-We're-Gonna-Use-it-Anyway Smith". And by the way, "John Michael (Jack) Smith" is even more out-of-the-question as an article title. In a case like that, if he's so commonly known as "Jack" that the title needs to have Jack in it to make sense to most readers, then the article gets titled "Jack Smith". Lena Pederson and Red Pedersen

I was wondering if you had any other information on Lena and Red? I noticed this edit earlier and it got me wondering. I know that Red Pedersen had a wife (no valid source) called "Lena" but I'm not sure if it's the same person as Lena Pederson. The sources you gave definitely show her as "Pederson" but I also came across this which is obviously the same person as Lena Pederson. I also found that in the Elections NWT archive from 2003 that the name was spelt "Pedersen". There are several others that I found that seem to indicate "Pedersen", however a search for the spelling of the boarding home makes it more confusing. There are a few references to the boarding home being "Peterson" which is wrong but that spelling is used in the same Hansard that spells it "Pederson". There is almost no references to "Lena Pedersen Boarding Home" and not much more to "Lena Pederson Boarding Home". I've asked another editor that lives in Yellowknife to see what the spelling is if they have the time. I'm also looking for a book which should be here that might help. Cheers. Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right, names have changed over time and still do. It started with Abe Okpik and continues today with Peter Irniq and others. I do recall that at first it was difficlut for me to keep things straight when you have five brothers who all have different surnames. In this case though it's a married name and shouldn't have changed, especially as Red Pedersen is not originally from the north. I asked a Yellowknife based editor if he knew what the boarding home actually used and he found that the GNWT also uses both here and here. It turns out I'll be in Yellowknife at the end of the week so I'll see if I can get a picture of the home or the van with the name on it. For the most part there are little here in the local library for resources, they have an good selection of older books but little that covers the new things. Featured List of the Day Experiment

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. NWT electoral districts

Can you check out Monfwi and others to see if they look OK. I was planning to add just the communities in the district and fix the references due to them having been moved. As I was updating other parts I found that in 1999 and 2003 the percentages for each candidate were based on only the valid votes. However, in 2007 the percentages were based on the total number of votes, including the rejected and declined ballots. Fair use images of living people

Per Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy #3, the use of fair use images to depict living people is not acceptable. I've re-removed Image:Stevenstiles.png from Stephen Stiles as being replaceable under this policy, and appropriately tagged the image as such, along with an orphan tag (since it's not used in any articles now) and a disputed fair use rationale tag because it does not comply with WP:NFCC #10. Thanks! And yeah, I saw your list, which is what inspired me to get mine going (that and a desire to fill out the succession portions of the infoboxes of ministers I was writing). I'm mostly going through old Hansards and Alberta Journals, which is slow work. Unfortunately, the links in the article you did (to the cabinet appointments at Our Future Our Past) no longer seem to be active, which is a shame, because those would have been really useful. Please read WP:BLP to understand the edits that I made to John Babcock. My edits were not snarky, and you would do well to understand that everything you submit to a biography of a living person will be closely scrutinized. I cannot read your mind or garner information from sources that you do not provide. I criticized your adding of information that was not supported by the sources that you provided, and rightly so. If you cannot handle constructive criticism and plan on taking them all as hostility, perhaps editing Wikipedia should not be your hobby of choice. We all make mistakes, from Jimbo Wales down to the newest Wikipedia editor. If you take it as a personal attack rather than assistance, you won't get very far. The only way that is snarky is if one is pre-determined to see it as an attack. What, exactly, should I have put in my edit summary that would have been equally informative but less "snarky"? Secondly, your hobby is very much my business if it intersects (or interferes) with my duty to administrate Wikipedia. Third, I can't ban you, only the community can do that. Fourthly, WP:BLP easily trumps WP:AGF - all material on biographies on living people must be sourced, period. If it's not available in a reliable source that you can cite, then you shouldn't be including it until you can.
