My user name honors the Reverend Doctor Robert Stirling, 19th Century Church of Scotland Pastor and Garage Inventor. He is said to have been motivated to invent the Stirling Engine when more than one of his church members had been maimed or killed in steam engine explosions. Such explosions were common in the early days of the Industrial Revolution.

I have always admired people who not only preach against social wrongs, but who take whatever ethical actions they can to right them.
