The meaning of "load" as in "engine load" seems to be missing. Or is this covered by "Load is what is carried, or a force."? Fpahl 12:09, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)

unit of measurement for mass[edit]

In some English-Russian dictionaries have written that "load" is the old English unit of measurement for mass:

1 load of ore = 158,3 kg
1 load of wheat = 40 bushels ≈ 1090 kg
1 load of hay = 36 trasses = 914,4 kg
1 load of fresh hay = 979,8 kg
1 load of straw = 587,9 kg
1 load of roundwood = 40 feet = 1,12 m³
1 load of boards = 50 feet = 1,416 m³
