There is a Putnam County in New York State, but perhaps you knew that already. But is that the county in which the trial took place?

Whoa! That article says the trial took place in White Plains, New York. Is White Plains in Putnam County? (click, click) No, it isn't. It's in Westchester County. (I should have known that, since I grew up about ten miles from White Plains).

Cold Spring is in Putnam County.

Various other Putnam Counties seem to be in Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri... yikes. http://www.naco.org doesn't have an alphabetized list for the whole country, but you can pull down various states, and I see there is no Putnam County in Massachusetts, or Connecticut, or Vermont, or New Hampshire, or Rhode Island.

Therefore, IF the trial really took place in a Putnam County, I think it's very likely that it was Putnam County, New York. The county seat is Carmel, so probably the courthouse and trial would have been in Carmel.

But did it take place in Carmel, Putnam County, New York? Or did it take place in White Plains, Westchester County, New York?

Peaches sued Daddy for separation, claiming mental anguish from practical jokes and sexually perverse behavior. The judge ruled that Peaches' testimony was not credible and Daddy won the case.

Grounds for divorce[edit]

Assuming we've settled that it is indeed New York we're talking about, could you even get a divorce here prior to 1968 without proving adultery? That might have been part of the young lady's problem, in which case it's a pertinent bit of trivia.–♥ «Charles A. L.» 14:54, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
