I have never heard of the longboats before. Do you mean the knarrs or do you mean the smaller ships that were used for the Russian rivers (but they did have sails)?--Wiglaf 20:22, 2 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I don't think this article should deal with Viking ships/boats at all. For me, a longboat is a boat carried aboard a ship as an auxilliary vessel. Vikings did use small longships on rivers, but not longboats.--Stephan Schulz 23:50, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
