Cut text[edit]

It is known chiefly as the site of Sealand, a micronation that, although unrecognised claims to be an independent sovereign state. Sealand occupies a permanent man-made World War 2 military installation that was constructed in the United Kingdom as a naval vessel and deliberately sunk on Rough Sands.

Ownership of this structure and the seabed at Rough Sands is a matter of dispute between the United Kingdom and Sealand, because although it was not the case when the structure now occupied by Sealand was created

The above needs to be untangled. Some is about the sand bar. But most is about Bates and the pirate radio station over which he claims "sovereignty" (see micronation). Uncle Ed July 8, 2005 21:56 (UTC)

Pretty was much was about Sealand etc, and was just a duplicate of existing info. (Do I have to read the same info over and over in 3 or 4 articles?!). I've turned this one into a redirect tp HM Fort Roughs; feel free to recreate it if you're making an article about the sandbar - but only if it's really about the sandbar and there's something encyclopedic to be said about it. --kingboyk 23:23, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
